I just brought home the '50 Pontiac I have been lusting after, from classified editor "Rocky". For almost a year, we talked, until a deal was struck, and good friends hauled it home for me. I have been told she is a rare beast, with only 40K original miles, a Hydromatic trans., Straight Eight, and original paint and interior. Last registered in Omaha, NE. 1979. Congrats, that's a rare one. Is Rocky sick or something as I didn't think he would let anything Pontiac go?
You better keep an eye on it or some street rodder will pinch your tail-lights LOL

It's all in how you talk to him, and seduce him with your words! This baby will be under lock and key!

My '57 Chevy has a cigarette lighter burn right in the center of the steering wheel horn cap just like your Pontiac does. Must have been the thing to do.

Looks like a real clean survivor, surprisingly nice chrome on the front of it yet, and intact paint.

  13. You did good, real good. Love those Coupes.

  14. As though it's a 20 year old car someone just pulled outside. Phenomenal condition! Such a nicely shaped body, those and hardtops are the best. Exactly what model is it?
Hydro doesn't have a park position on the shift selector?
What are your plans for it? Chrome reverse would absolutely slay, only my opinion...

That will be a sweet ride with that Pontiac 350 (I'll bet some don't even know about those). Definitely back it In the garage, you Never know when there are hoodlums about!

It will have the sleeper look, with body color wheels dog dish caps, restored body, disc brakes, and the newer Pontiac drivetrain, black wall tires. You stopped, let the engine wind down after killing it, then pull it into gear for park! It's a Chieftain Deluxe Coupe.

Nice car. I’m a Pontiac man myself. I wish they still made them. Snowman

Nice car, nice plans. Be interesting to see this new chapter of the car evolve.

Don’t do it! The straight eight is a good engine . There are too many vintage vehicles out there with non- original engines now. Keep that engine, you’ll have everybody climbing under the hood to get a look at that inline eight. That’s a sharp looking car. I’m envious.

  24. This takes me back to the days of riding in my dad's '54 Pontiac. I was 9 years old when we got it and I remember that on night rides, I liked to get on the back seat, bend over backwards with my head on the shelf behind the seat, looking straight up at the stars through the back glass, and pretending I was flying in a spaceship. HaHa, a country boy has to make his fun where ever he can find it. :p
Ours was a 4-door so the front seat might be different, but I recall an upholstered rope side to side of the seatback so the rear passengers could pull themselves up and out of the plush rear bench.
Have fun with the '50........ and make some memories! :D

Wow, really nice car. It helps to start with a good car, rather than a field car. Congrats.

I'd keep the straight 8, but at least you're putting a Pontiac engine in a Pontiac. :)

That was actually called a robe cord - it was meant for hanging a blanket (or robe) on, for the benefit of the back seat passengers in cold weather.
