I had to extend the radiator support rods....the new rad along with the grill were tilted to much rearward for my liking....I think this got it! Finally got my tri power dialed in and changed some wiring around. She started acting up the night before TROG so I drove my truck down. My rides have been getting longer and at greater speeds....she feels frigging GREAT!!!
    Thanks everyone!!!

Got the tri power dialed in and drove a crap ton of miles this weekend! Just some small annoying issues like the clutch pedal arm scraping the toe board and make a horrendous screech. Just need to clearance it some more.....the left rear drum contacts the backing plate or the outer edge of the brake shoes on left turns intermittently....yes, the axle nuts are torqued to spec. It’s not so bad that I can’t live with it. I’ll probably address it when I install my parking brake cables. All in all, I’m thrilled with it......AND I think I nailed the stance! Hope everyone had a great weekend! C5E51D97-7442-4373-8CED-543CA173537A.jpeg

Thanks Bro!! Been quite the journey.... Now I need to become an alliance member so I can get my HAMB badge! The support from everyone here has been tremendous, a priceless resource for info and motivation! Thanks for droppin' in!

  5. Stance is great. Well done. I appreciate anyone that can handle all disciplines-chassis, body, interior, drivetrain, wiring-you are a five tool hot rodder, to use a baseball term!

Thanks HB! I’ve picked up a few skills throughout my career in auto repair and body repair. My transition to machinist has been a blessing both mentally and physically aside from adding new skills to my arsenal. I still have to break out the wife’s sewing machine and make up some interior panels and removable a tonneau cover for the roof. Your support and motivation has been greatly appreciated!

Same size my ass!! In the larger tube I found some remnants of a size that looks like it was ground off...the baby power enhanced it....AND they’re supposed to be Air Loc tubes! Seller being shady or supplier?
No effing wonder I was springing leaks!!

I'm glad you pushed the top of the grille and rad forward. I thought it was a bit "off" before but didn't say anything. Didn't want to be a negative Nellie.
Looking great. It just keeps getting better.

Thanks Mart! Just got back from a blast.....she's rollin' now!
Yeah....when I installed the new radiator and moved the bracket I knew it was off....just finally got around to making the adjustments. I need to go check out your Holley 94 video....looking forward to it. I appreciate all your input Mart, you've contributed more than you know!

Took a blast up to Matt’s at Irontrap to pick up a set of rear wide 5 drums. First long haul with the coupe and she performed flawlessly!! Up to 60mph sustained with no fwinky or wonky shakes, noises or vibrations.....just a plain old joy to drive! As soon as I get my accessory socket wired and a good camera mount, I’ll be getting some road trip videos.....until then, enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!!

Yes LB! Still have some things to finish like the removable roof tonneau and I still haven’t decided on a trunk latch system. I’ve got some old tool box latches and some more modern stainless latches, or I could go with the leather strap tie downs. Speedo is acting up, it needs lube ( thought I hit it good enough ) and it’s reads too slow.... Also have my interior upholstery to do. Gotta get the wife to break out her sewing machine! Little things will be coming together and I’ll keep everyone posted.....thank you all for the support!

Having the trunk lockable is probably a good idea.
You could go with a vintage look or a simple round key tumbler with a popper spring.

Yeah....still batting some ideas around in my head. I do have several different types of locking levers with keys, but I don't want it to look "too new" or outta place. Thanks for the input Rod!

Saved myself 100 bucks and made my own cross braces....finally got around to installing them. I didn’t like the look of the hole saw method to relieve the side rails, so I used my 3/4” spot weld cutter and a wood chisel to carve them out. Came out pretty smooth.... Now I can start on my tonneau cover!

Holy crap! Coupe was using too much gas, plugs looked fat and it felt “squishy”. So I did some tinkering....took the .052s outta the primary and intalled .051s and swapped the .050s in the secondaries for .049s and installed 3.5 PVs....and holy s**t did this thing wake up! I still need to move the accel pump over a hole to address a slight blip when accelerating lightly from cruising speed and see if that corrects it. I may just install the leather accel pumps I picked up.... will report back....Happy camper here! Happy weekend everyone!!

Drove it to work today! Beautiful afternoon for the ride home...70mph down the highway.....
It's still using too much gas and I gotta figure it out. I'll get it....just some trial and error. I did dig out the material for my roof tonneau and ordered the snaps, also got some backing for the door and kick panels. Time to dig the wife's sewing machine out! Will document that process too.....have a great evening fellas!

How did all your co-workers who doubted you react to a commute in the rod?

I think this is the first picture from the workplace, showing what this started from.

Made this nifty glove box handle at work today....some scrap brass pipe and a couple old stainless cap screws....turned the screws down to fit and pressed them into the ends of the pipe....turned it all down in the lathe to same diameter and rounded the edges. Made the stands out of smaller pipe and polished it all up!
Not bad for a hairlip as my Father used to say.....never got the reference though....haha.... Anyway, taking care of the peripheral things... I keep hounding my wife to break out the sewing machine so I can do my removable roof cover and interior panels! Still gotta get some type of carpeting and also finish installing the sound deadener.... I’ll update when I get there...happy weekend fellas!!

Thank you! I couldn’t see spending the money for a stock looking 36 knob when we had plenty of scrap at work to make one that more matched the theme...I was afraid it would be too heavy and overwhelm the magnets I’m using to basically latch the door closed....but I’ve hit some decent bumps and so far so good!
