1st. I’m not in the market for a 32 chassis. Seen this ad and was curious.
    What say you HAMB engineers?
Good, bad, cool but a bad idea, nor cool at all

    just curious
And the ad states crossmembers can be added by them at extra cost.

Someone got a drill and holesaw set for Christmas.
At least it wasn't an original frame.

Are all those holes sleeved? That would be a lot of work.

Perfect for that “cartoon car” build you were planning….
Sorry, couldn’t resist. I suppose there are folks out there who could turn that into a decent hot rod but holes in everything just ain’t my style. I’d pass.

I think it would look good on the right car. Most builds it would look wrong. It may be fun putting mounts for things on it. I would build the frame and get the mounts and crossmembers first then punch the holes.

I think that it would look good on one of the "Roth" style builds.

It's what we call "art". It looks neat, but it's a kind of silly thing to do.

  10. I guess I’m wondering more on strength compared to no holes.
As strong or stronger than stock?
More prone to crack or less?

I expect it's pretty strong, and rigid, but also kind of heavy, compared to the original unboxed frame.

  12. Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, personally that looks strong but more like something that would be used under a upscale rodent rod, if that is a terminology. HRP

It could work under a really wild 60's show rod style build, but my guess is it'll end up under something wearing bolt-on 10 spoke "gasser" wheels and bucket seats with headrests.

Doesn’t do much for me. I’m in agreement with hrp= rodent car

  17. I kinda dig the look on the right build.
I’m more wondering on engineering/strength more than aesthetics.

  18. sleeved it would pass tech at some tracks and not pass at others. it should be fine. Actually my Ol' Man would have called it "healed" not sleeved. I personally don't think you save much by doing it that way.

I could work with it if that is what I had. In today's world it would be more of a show car thing than a street/strip thing though.

IF (and yes, that is a big if) each hole is sleeved, and then correctly and fully welded around the perimeter it should be just as strong in bending, and probably a bit stronger in buckling. Fatigue strength is a whole other ball of wax though, as each of the welds for the sleeves will add a stress riser that will decrease fatigue life.

  20. I think it would look pretty cool chrome plated under a 60's style show rod.

Reminds me of when the guy punched a reproduction deuce roadster full of louvers, got a lot of attention. This would require drilling a new Brookville body full of holes to match the frame?

The two motored Roth car`s frame had a lot of holes. It ended up breaking after being hauled around in a trailer going to all the shows.

Was thinking, a correct for '60's 'Show-bucket" style. Structure done right, would not trouble. Love the added 'mystery' or Roth touch.

  29. I could see it with a full cage, side nerfs, torsion bars front and rear. A Winters QC hanging off the rear, centered steered, wide fives and a lightened, sliced and diced, coupe body riding on top. 14:1 SBC, Hilborn injection, surrounded by that sweet alcohol smell.
