I was a teenager in the '50s, and that's when I developed most of my automotive tastes, so I've used whitewalls on the cars that are built in my '50s style: ...but I've used blackwalls on the cars that were built in a more hot rod style:
I like looking at whitewalls, but have never bought or run any. I try to cram in as much rubber as space will allow, preferably with a soft compound tire on the rear. Just doesn't jive with availability of whitwall sizes. I generally end up running different tire brands front to rear. Now a redline or blueline on the front and stickies on back look great to me, but it's borderline on HAMB timeline.
I think it depends on the vehicle, the paint, the look, etc.. I like them more often than I do not tho'.
I have been drawn to white walls, both wide and narrow, for a little bit now... about 25 years. I think they being a certain amount of class to all kinds of builds and body styles. Firestones... Great on a Spring day cruise... With Caddy caps and deep Jefferson Blue... I think they make the 'ole girl look very regal !!!
Fun fact: these were a factory f*#k up they came out softer compound then any other tire on the market ...the canny builder sought out and recognised this and bought up as many sets as possible...the current owner states that he still runs sets of those tires bought back then...and still races on them! so the WW's are coincidental ....

I like the blackwalls with the firestone letters in white. I have seen a few on here over the years and am not sure if the factory made them that way or the owner goes to the trouble. To me white walls say affluent, I am fairly regular and have never had problems with affluence.
Its a yes from me: We are awaiting new front tyres from the US, for the 34 sedan. We started with the whitewalls on the T coupe, then sold that and kept the rims and tyres as buyer wasnt a fan, then bought some 235/75/15s for the back of the Chev truck. Then put the 285/75/15s on the back of the 34 sedan project and the old front tyres were too wide so we ordered new ones from Jegs, but we are having issues with getting them flown out to New Zealand. I use Coker/BFG radials on my hot rods as our roads here in NZ are pretty much crap and we get a lot of rain. So radials are a bit of a safety item.
ok. i’ve got cheap ass Blackwall radial tires on my 41 Cadillac. i’m not willing to spend the bucks to replace the tires with Diamondbacks or something that Coker sells. is there a modern white tire paint that is durable enough to apply to my black wall cheap ass radial tires that will do the job and convince people that I got cool white whites on my 41 Cadillac???
