Customs Bobber Trucks. Are They HAMB Rods?

i am in the process of building a '52 ad chevy like the one taylor drew. i build models also and saw a drawing in a model mag of some of these. since i had a frame and cab i started building it. i cut the roof off and built a folding top for it. i cut 13 inches right down the center. i put leaf springs on it which made me make a 4 foot bed. it's got a 350 chevy engine with a few bowtie touches on it. i even made bowtie tail lights.i didn't like the chevy grille in the pic so i used some kind of grille that resembles a '32 ford i had laying around. i don't have a pic yet since it's kind of wrapped up for the winter.

Yes I do. The truck is topical.

 

The ones that are Chevy powered, all seem to have the same kit headers.

Presently, it is on topic. When it appeared in American Rodder? That was inspiring. And likely set off a bunch of attempts & build's.

 

i don't really consider my 33 to be a bobber truck.... Yes it has a short bed and no fenders ... My 36 is what I consider as a bobber.. .lol

 

HotRod33, I agree. And it has good proportions. On the other hand, the 40 doesn't do it for me. The front axle is forward, bed is low to my eye.

 

Twas' a time on this site (eons ago) if you had posted a photo of most of these trucks ,ya would have been burnt to the ground. Funny how stuff changes. Seems like that maybe is the way it oughta be,but ain't how it always was.

It’s odd if I do a general google search for sub frame grafts, t-5 info or disc brake conversions this place pops up.

Same with T Buckets...belly button boring exhaust,... on the buckets it’s catalog bought “sprint car” exhaust.

 

I did a fair amount of work on that one.

Having read all the way through this thread. In my opinion the bobber build truck, is to many builders the only affordable way of achieving an early (ish) hot rod, without having to pay the astronomical prices asked for the more popular or desirable examples of real Henry Ford steel .I for one would love to own a 33 or 34 coupe, but circumstances dictate otherwise. "Necessity is the mother of invention" so why not build a vehicle with what's affordable and available, some very stylish examples of which have been posted on this thread, ranging from more modern builds to the use whatever we had available builds of yesteryear. If the component parts are pre '65 and assembled in a safe well engineered manner should we not embrace these builds as the re-creation of some "oddities" of yesteryear.
