See, I'm convinced it's all about the bed/box. They need to have some kind of symmetry to look right, and when the box is excessively shortened, like this one, or too long and hanging back over the rear axle too far, the aesthetics are all off, IMO of course. Doesn't mean they aren't HAMB friendly, just a comment about the aesthetics.

Cool bike and truck! What size wheels are on your truck? If they're 16", what size tires are those? I like the stance.

No one has posted anything that hasn't been done in the past (HAMB timeline) and with that being the case, I have no idea what the initial complaint was about.

While we are defining things for future generations, can anyone tell me what the term "jalopy" means? I mean if I call a vehicle a "bobber" someone has a problem with it, but if I just called it a "jalopy"........as in Jalopy Journal it would have been acceptable..............wouldn't it?????????????????????????????????????????????????
They say "English" is one of the hardest languages to learn. :p

I’d say you have 2 choices, use a dictionary for a definition or start your own website and define it on your terms. (Using you and yours more in a 3rd person reference, not directed and you).
Ryan’s defined “Traditional “ as it pertains to his site.
Someone could define Traditional on another site being “if it was available, it would have been used like in the old days”.
So as far as Jalopy is concerned, it could be a compliment or a derogatory thing.

But the real question is “What is the meaning of life “. ;)

Well said. You hit the nail on the head. The HAMB has a direction and a purpose. No one can tell you how to build your car, but around here it is all about a 'traditional' approach, as defined by the powers that be (Ryan). Too many seem to want to change things to suit themselves, instead of seeking what they are after in other, more relevant places.
You can get meat from the butcher's, and veges from the green grocer's, but don't try and tell the butcher that he should sell carrots...........o_O

    Cheshire Grin !
I said to myself, at page 3 of this thread, it will never make it to 10 pages, we'll see !

There has been some interesting view points, about the topic as stated from the OP.

This thread has wandered all over the place, and its been very entertaining, and very informative !
So let me add a tad bit more grist for the mill.

First of all, what I will post here is a series of pictures and an article from the Magazine Rod & Custom from the August 2007 edition.

So before any participant yells out " NOT HAMB " I say, relax and just go with it. I know these are not true "BOBBERS", but judging what has been posted, these have a certain place in the realm of "Trucks" that have been repurposed in creative ways.

( Myself, I like the Black Chevy with the inline 6 banger ).

So let the debate/flame session/offered opinions begin, I posted this purely as something to enjoy and to "NOT" stir up controversy !
    Enjoy from Dennis.

  18. Thanks. I was recently looking for this. I lost the magazine.
Doing something like the purple 60-66 gm cab is something I’ve looked into.
    Even located a rough cab.
But I got a few more goofy projects to get out of the way.

I picked up this truck that crashed in 75
    85EC53D0-EE85-439E-A7CE-034763FEA77A.jpeg
and located a couple fenders but I’ve already got 3 goofy projects on hold while I get the current one going.
Maybe it’s sleep deprivation right now. Went about 36 hours straight, took a 1.5 hour nap and back at it.
    probably start talking crazy again.

  28. I wouldn't call any truck 34 and older a Bobber ( I'm sure there's some out there that might fit the category) To me a Bobber has to be 35 or newer, and anything newer than 41 is pushing it. The best base cabs in my opinion are 35 to 38, and Ford. That being said I've seen some other makes pull off the look. Now a Mopar cab with suicide doors could pull it off. I like the Rudy look Bobber trucks and would build one without hesitation.

Shortening the box. Shortening the rear fender of a bike. AKA bob tail. The term just get's misused & abused as the general public get's involved. Bone stock is anything but. download - 2021-10-14T210907.514.jpg
