I’m getting some bias ply ones like it once had.

My first drive in it and also the first gas stop. I could only go around the neighborhood, it’s not registered yet, but what a thrill, I can’t put it into words. It’s puking coolant, I may have put too much in. It has a really odd flat radiator cap inlet. It didn’t overheat though.

Yeah, it has Mk1 Ford Cortina discs up front, the wheels are just 13" diameter. The rear end is a Chevy with Jaguar discs, these wheels are 15".

They fill out the fenders nicely. Pro Trac tires are about the only ones out there with that 70s look. I’m waiting on some skinny bias play Firestones for the front.
Polishing these wheels was some hard work.

Hello Nads. That's brilliant that you have ended up with that piece of UK rodding history. I like the Thames camper too.
    All the best.

Thanks Mart. I love that Thames, it’s actually just a regular passenger van.

Funny enough, Nads, I saw one today, at a show. It was done up with football scarves like the one in the Italian Job. It had the benches along the sides.

Don't see the Rover P6 V8 badges outside their natural habitat these days! Or the Transit van Custom badge either come to think of it! I wonder how many of those were acquired, ahem, legally back then!?

I got the new 5.20-13” tires mounted up front. It looks almost like it did in 1971. 9C66095C-3301-46BF-8DC2-23B1329E90BA.jpeg 54BD4F2F-BB2C-4FED-A976-6A0FE845C31F.jpeg DE906521-2A14-46BA-ABE7-DB66D8647269.jpeg

Love it. I remember the Magazine articles from my schooldays in the 70s. I think the T was featured in a " Top Trumps" card game that was a craze at that time " Custom Cars " pack I think.

At some point in this car’s life it was in some sort of violent shake because of a broken panhard rod. It mangled the original rear radius rods. They were replaced by these ugly square channel ones. The axle ended up being off center too. The lower coil over bolts are only in the front hole and not centered in the actual mount.
I’m going to modify some radius rods from my parts pile and get them chromed. While they won’t look exactly like the originals they’ll be much more attractive. It already looks so much better with the tires sitting where they should. 6D134312-02A0-43E5-8113-FF95E0AEE7B9.jpeg 38450CE2-AF47-4AA6-BEFF-B5824D76EF43.jpeg 9D35CE26-347F-4F2C-950E-8A95B6DAB54F.jpeg C57D12CB-FFD5-40E4-8760-C5D058CE8D62.jpeg

Of course now the driveshaft will have to be shortened.

The tires make a huge difference, and the revised rear suspension will as well. That stuff will really do the car justice.

I finished the rear radius rods, they look pretty much like the original ones that Glyn made. I sent them off to Action Plating in Opa Locka, Florida, to get them chromed. They’ll look too new compared to the aged old chrome and paint.
