Thats where two fools met. I have one that runs and drives that would be hard to fetch that price

Prices have shot up in recent times. I paid 15K US for this one in 2012 and thought that was high. It came with a full set of fenders, hood, grill and bumpers. IMG_0150.JPG

That looks like a nice clean body ^^^, worth paying a good price. Mine was a wreck, seen here on page 13, "statue of liberty " project. Today's view... IMG_0656.JPG

It takes two people to bid. If the owner turned down the bids, that would make 3 fools

Thanks Pete, its not done, but I have about 5000 miles of smiles on it so far. These cars are not cheap, we all know that. Problem is unlike other commodity's, its hard to say "thats too much, I'll wait for a cheaper one", because the cheaper one may not ever happen. My wreck was 18k, and since I payed someone to do some metal work (never again!) I would guess I am near 48k the way it sits, and I doubt it would bring that on a quick ebay no reserve sale. I am realtivly new to the game, this car was my first "40", but in the 5 years or so, I have seen two perfect body's, just body's, sell on ebay for 35k. High I thought at the time, but they were nice. I have to wonder at this auction sale if there wasn't a game of chicken going on between the two high bidders. If they knew eachother, or had some beef, you would try to push the price up and hope the other guy gets stuck with it. But...in this case they chased eachother a long ways past the value of a bare body, sitting on the ground for decades I would guess, frame shot? probably no title ?, no deck lid, yeah, it was nice clean western tin, but not really an example of market value I believe . This has been a nice picture thread, sorry to plug it up with my rambling opinions

If that field 34 three window sold for $48K at auction that is a very high price, and I agree with you, Rusty Valley, it may be guys bidding each other up. Compare that coupe to a five window metal one listed in the Hamb classifieds right now - a fairly complete car looks like it runs but needs some work for $26.5K. Not all 33-34 Ford coupes are in the stratosphere when it comes to pricing, so if you want one have the cash ready to make the deal when it comes along.

Rusty I reckon that is money well spent, its a great looking car and its awesome to read you are enjoying it so much. I've been looking for one for a while now and was looking for a body to be the basis of a build and as much as I wanted a highboy couldnt pass on this one. I was a bit stressed about the price but seeing that body go for $48K made me feel better, even if mine was just cheaper than that.

Its almost here apparently so am really looking forward to its arrival.

Pete that is a pretty cool car, has all the right things going for it. Even if you paid $48K for it, I think it was well worth it.

Thanks Pat, the wait for it is doing my head in especially as it will start snowing soon. If I still had my money I would have jumped on this when it popped up today. Maybe someone here can scoop this up if its still available.

Here is another 34 coupe body coming together. Doug Blakey is a very talented metal fabricator based in Lantzville on Vancouver Island. He started with a cowl and a few other original 34 Ford pieces and has come to the point where the metal work is almost finished on this build. I have seen this one in person and it is outstanding! Another 34 Ford coupe being resurrected - this one has been in a crash as the photos show. Jeremy Mang of Victory Rod and Custom is taking on the task of bringing this one back to life. Jeremy is a talented hot rod builder located in Nanoose on Vancouver Island - he has the skills and knowledge to get this coupe body straight again.

    Abone,
Thank you. A chopped 34 coupe has always been my dream car and I picked it up last year and have been collecting parts for it as time allows.

it has been local to the San Fernando valley since at least 1974. The chop is old and done really nicely. My friend made the introduction between me and the seller and gave me the first opportunity to make an offer on it and the seller accepted it thankfully. The car was set up for a small block Chevy 857C0F7B-E838-4777-8E24-4126177ADEBF.jpeg 7D5E7BDE-C2CE-46FC-9211-7659170CDE2A.jpeg 7F2AC20A-0809-4AE7-8E03-A78E87A96A8F.jpeg CAC6D3D5-3BB1-4D4F-A11D-3C8290F0E805.jpeg C1E6933F-845C-40DB-A893-A3E93C6D62BF.jpeg

More work done on my project 34 five window. Body is coming off the frame next to complete the metal work. Rear fenders are original Henry steel from a coupe where the owner wanted to make some changes. IMG_3215.jpg IMG_3217.jpg
