I pulled the head and found one piston stuck as well as five valves. It's all back together and running. Now. i'm looking for a 50 that i can use for parts.

  5. I know it falls outside the date range that's posted but it is a 40 Plymouth with a 265 Chrysler in it after some Massaging

Long floor shift lever was used in hot rods in the fifties. The best or toughest transmission was the Cadillac/LaSalle box but it was heavy and slow shifting. If you tried to shift too fast it would grind and miss the shift. A long shift lever with a heavy knob at the top acted as a pendulum and slowed the shift down just enough that you could slam shift it and it would go in every time. You didn't grab it at the top but in the middle to shift.

I had one of those... a looooonnng time ago. My 1st flat black car... had chrome reverse wheels, a Cal-Custom floor shifter, glass pack muffler, brakes were nearly non-existent. Man, those were the days!

"non existent brakes never slowed me down either...." Ha ha, That's funny! No I don't have any pics I can send here, just some old 3"x3" Instamatic photos from early 70's... somewhere in a musty old photo album. I do still have my '51, also "waiting in the wings" a.k.a. back burner. IMG_9198.JPG

It sits good! I've always liked those ol' MoPar trucks. They look sweet with a mild lowering and a lil hair cut.

I'm not a big 4-door guy but, I absolutely love the look of a 52 Cranbrook more door! With a Mopar small block/auto and upgraded suspension this could be a way cool family cruiser. Neighbor was selling it for $2500 but it's gone now. Should have jumped on it!

I have plans to shave the handles, French the headlights, French in new taillights and maybe someday I’ll chop it.

Desoto ....im going to update as soon as i get it home and sit on it for a while.. Body stripped to metal , all body work completed , has fenched headlights , frenched fenders for lake pipes , frenched caddy tail lights , newer suspension , disc brakes , chevy power and a 4 speed....Owner is 82 years old and decided to pass it on...Clean paper work and n.o.s grille and chrome and a trunk full of parts sealed the deal for me....
