1959 Riverside Raceway December

Hello,

This film clip was taken on December 20, 1959. The Willys was probably built in 1959, but campaigned during 1960 in So Cal. The identification is important as a public access library would like to know who, what was the build and results. Some of my films will be presented to this public access location, but they are asking for some details.

If anyone can get the information from your sources, you will be given detail credit for the information on this site, when the presentation is finished. Name, date, source, etc.
PM me if you have details of this Willys sedan competing in the Dec 20, 1959 gas coupe and sedan class at Riverside Raceway.

In 1959, we had the details, but as recorded films go, a scrap of paper here and there gets lost over time. There was no mention of this particular Willys 4 door sedan from the drag race day. Some one mentioned another 4 door Willys sedan at the same drag meet. Yes, that was the C/Gas Record Holder, Weddle/Nichols green sedan from So Cal.

On this day, Weddle-Nichols-Peters won the B/Gas Class. but, previously, it set the record for the C/Gas Class on a different day.


Despite all of the notoriety of the Weddle, Nichol, Peters 41 Willys Sedan, this similar 4 door Red Primer, Willys sedan was front and center in the Gas Coupe/Sedan Classes all day. It was powerful, very fast and impressive.
