a few more pics. Not much HAMB friendly stuff there, but enough to make it interesting.

    negotiating.jpg

Freiburger negotiating whether the truck is worth $3k or less. The consensus was that we all wanted to see it race, so they let it in the Budget Beater race. Randy is in there somewhere.

This shirt was available for purchase at the 2020 Zip Tie Drags...the Duct Tape drags is a sort of pandemic replacement for it, put on by Tucson Dragway, rather than by Motortrend. Pretty cool to have my car on a shirt.

A neat 55. There were several.

    frod.jpg

The F rod, from Roadkill Garage, I think. It's quick, and looks pretty traditional, mostly...if you squint.

    avanti.jpg

63 Avanti, customized in the 70s. Pretty rare to see one of these cars so well neglected. The owner wants to put a Paxton on it, of course. Drove over from California. Yes, he slept in the tent two nights.

Thanks for the pic Jim. Freiburger and dulcich first said the truck was too expensive then when I raised the hood and he seen the blower I had had adapted to the 4 barrel intake he was blown away and was super excited about it then he pumped the crowd up and approved us he later came and looked at the truck said he was sold once he seen the engine and was really excited about it I just wish it had run better than it did but we raced it all weekend and really didn’t have any major trouble with it next up is to run drag week next year with it we have already started getting it sorted out

From a Google search of https://www.tucsondragway.com

Freiburger announces Duct Tape Drags at Tucson Dragway!
Check it out! Our good friends David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan have a special announcement for our new event October 1st and 2nd, right here at Tucson Dragway, The Duct Tape Drags! MotorTrend has cancelled the Zip-Tie Drags and is NOT affiliated with the event. It will include a cruise from the Los Angeles area on Friday, and bonfire and beer that night. On Saturday there’s low-buck drags, grudge drags, Freiburger’s cars on track, a car show, and the usual fun!

Best pass was a16.23 @ 89mph it has a stone stock 1977 dodge 318 and only 4lbs of boost however it did out run elana scherr’s turbo trans am lol the 3.23 gears with a 30” tall tire didn’t help either lol

THanks, I was looking there too, and saw this. I don't remember seeing Wes there, but he got photo credits. I did see him on Drag Week last month.

That’s still a fun ride in a pickup!
The LA engines are tough bastards. I had one years back showing no oil pressure and a slight miss. Went to change the oil and saw a rod poking out of the block!
I pulled it apart for grins, crank was a damned mess. But the danged thing ran up and out back to move stuff around for a few months, just short runs, before I ever got to looking at it.
