Here is two other options. The first(ignore all of my "helpers") is the Moroso 5.50's(25") tall and the second are M&H(22") but remember these are racing tires so they wont last as long.
Picked up some 15x7 steelies for the front today. Whats the skinniest tire you can go with on that wheel? By the way they had some tires on them , size was 205/75/15', tires were no good payed for the steelies only, but the tires did seem tall, but not too skinny.
If you wanted skinny tires on front, a 15x7 is the wrong wheel size to use. 15x5 or maybe 15x6. Use the 15x7 on the back.
Thanks bulldogmafia on the tire recomendation. I like these. I got the tires mounted on wheels. I can't bolt them an the car yet though. I can't figure out how to fit 5 lug wheels on 4 lugs??? Looks like I'll have to work on the straight axle now.
For about 20 years I been using 145R15 XZX Michelins on the front of my hotrods and when I got the last 2 pairs about 6 months ago Coker said enjoy them because there ain't no more.
Bought two 165 Michelin XZX at the pick-n-pull for $24 on 914 Porsche steel wheels. Sold the wheels for $50. The Cragars are 15X6
NTB Tire usually has in stock, BF Goodrich T/A Radials...155 80R 15. Think I gave $60 each. Mounted on 4" wide Real Wheels, they are 24.5 tall, 4.5 wide, and 6.0 section width.
Here' what Towel City's modern skinny front runner looks like. 165/80R15 radial with the sidewalls smoothed. I can see Made in Korea on the inside and it looks a lot like a Nexen tire. For $115, I ain't complaining.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...m=5SR5SC&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes I've been looking at these. Vredestein sprint classic. Decent looking tread pattern, good selection in skinny
We bought a bunch of Vredesteins a few years back when the size was hard to find. Ended up on an 8/71 blown BBC coup, a 32 roadster and a 55. Worked well on all three. LOOKED GREAT!
The Hurst cheater slicks have such a stiff sidewall that they don't act like passenger car radials. You can run bias or radials with them, and not have any issues. I ran 185-75-15 radials on my 4.5"x15" Torq Thrust wheels, with 10" Hurst slicks in the back on my '63 Falcon. It drove great! Oops! Looks like this old thread was dug up from way back in 2009!!!
I've been looking for front tires for the Fairlane and all I come up with is Chinese tires. I ran the VW size 185/75/15 BFG TAs for twenty years and was happy with them. I don't know what I will put on it now.
I had a OT work truck that had a radial on one front wheel and a bias on the other. It would actually change lanes on the freeway if I hit a bump. When I noticed that I had a bias ply, I replaced it and problem solved.
