As the title says, I bought my first Willys, a 1940 Willys pick up. Its actually my wife's but I'm going to build it for her and I'm sure she will let me drive it every so often. It should be delivered to.my house in a week or so, we are both pretty excited !

Maybe a good thread to ask, is it pronounced Will-iss or Will-ese? Always called the Jeep style pickups Will-ese.

I've always gone with the Will-ese, but I don't know which is correct.

  10. That Will-iss is from Kansas isn’t it?

Must have been hidden for years or it would have been a Hemi powered drag truck. Congrats and have fun with the build.

I've wanted one most of my life, I missed buying an old gasser in 1974 for $1500 , I couldn't come up with the money. I saw this one morning, and showed my wife, she loves Willys and trucks, when she saw it, she said "I want it", I didn't expect that comment. I have a good wife.

  18. Bought a 67 f100 about 5 years ago.
The guy had two 41 Willys in his shed.
The car was an old gasser with glass nose and a truck “street rod”.

But your truck is the bees knees
    Have fun, keep us posted

looks like more cool stuff parked behind it

The guy that owned it is into Model A, 32 , and 34 Fords with his dad. I bought it just through pictures and a phone conversation, it's about 600 miles from me. He said the lower doors have some pin holes and the stake pockets on the bed had some rust, but over all it is solid. I've been a Tri Five Chevy guy all my life, and I'm just finishing up my 56 Handyman wagon, this will be new territory for me, but I look forward to it.

I’ve seen pictures of that truck and apparently it came from my neck of the woods. Supposedly was in Iowa before Kansas. You chose a great one to start with. It’s very complete. Parts for these are getting difficult to find. The stake pockets are the same as chevy’s of roughly 1937-40 or so. If they are too far gone to repair there are a couple places that sell reproductions pieces. good luck and have fun with your build.
