This head is on a 1929 dated Model A banger motor. It looks different from the others I’ve seen? Anyone recognize this?
could be early aftermarket, maybe higher compression, or different combustion chamber design. Try here at the ford garage http://www.fordgarage.com/
@Tribalmonkey Try the "Vintage Ford Forum" Model A section. there are alot of both restorers and rodders there to give you any chance. A lot that have left the Ford Barn have gone there.
I would think that head could have come on a 1940 Ford commercial vehicle that was equipped with the 4 cylinder engine. Foggy memories, have me thinking those could have been tractor engines though.
Well here in California, about 4 pounds, but if in Texas (since everything is bigger) maybe 6 or 8 pounds?
Yeah. I’ll post something there and vintage fords. As far as the German theory goes, I believe it is stamped ”Made In USA”.
Model A heads were made by contract foundries for years after production ceased.they were sold by Ford, who mandated the made in USA casting mark. The date code is correct on yours,I have B heads that date to 1944...and generally the quality of the post production outside foundry stuff was better than the rouge stuff, which is why the 'diamond' B block is in high demand. Honyockers..the same cats who drink your beer, fart and annoy you when you're working on your shit..shop brothers..."Henway? within a hair of a moose knuckle boyo.."
Got a couple of these blocks too.. who did the castings? no one knows. Are they superior? doubtful.. This is a Diamond B too.She lost her cherry.,but had some nice machine work done so Ill run her on the street.
Saw this head at Hershey. Has the same markings as mine. Date was 38. The guy didn’t know anything about it.
