Nice pics, thanks. That looks an awful lot like a Tempest just off the left front fender of the Comet doing a burn out. Get any shots of it?

Did squeak Bell sell his purple 32 sedan or did somebody else buy it and race it?

Ah yes, an Olds. I thought that the headlight area looked strange to be a Tempest but as scarce as '62 Tempest parts are and being Eagle Field where the crazy gassers come out in force, anything's possible.
Is that Rich Guasco's purple roadster I see?

I happened to be heading north on I-5 Saturday morning and saw Guasco's roadster going southbound and wondered if he might be headed to Eagle Field. What other AMBR winner would fire up and drive to the drags, make a pass and drive home, 60 years after winning the big trophy? I think it's safe to say Rich is the only one. They better have his picture in Wikipedia when you look up "hotrodder".

I have an affinity for the '64 Comet. I learned to drive in one. 289/4bbl/3.25 gears. My Dad was good friends with Fran Hernandez who had a little bit to do with getting the Comets in those days into racing :)

    Excellent photography !
    Thanks for sharing !

Even though this cool footage is from 8 years ago, it really shows just how cool this event is and was, nothing like kick ass cars and kick ass vintage aircraft having fun out in the middle of no where !

The pilot of the Douglas C-54 Skymaster, is showing how to burn some fuel and money with style ! The B-25 is no slouch either, all set to music and is just too cool !
