Just like flames, whitewalls have been overdone. Like a lot have said on here - they look good on some cars - and it's a thin edge.
What brand of tire is on the back of this sharp looking pick up? They are very nice looking tires. I think I see a yellow Hurst on the sidewall..
i wish i could afford a full set of coker bias ply wide white walls. but i cant afford that yet, so she has radial white walls.
But were no longer popular... They were gone off all the OEM offerings by '63, Ford and GM dumped them in '62.
But on Hotrods and Customs OEM influenced but did not eliminate the wide Whites and those that moved on forward with OEM influencing their decisions are not likely in tune with past Excellence that we celebrate here... You had the Whole gamut of old and new to choose from...historic images would be very helpful and I don't think any Hotrod/Custom Show anywhere didn't have some or many out of touch with reality folks that said Fuck Progress...Personally I applaud the choices many made to just run with what worked for them visually because it truly isn't an OEM thing really...for instance Isky...
Seriously??? Guys like Cushenberry, Starbird, Winfield, Alexander Brothers, and even Roth 'weren't in tune'? Another attempt to revise history?
I beg to differ, your brush paints over the big picture...what I'm saying is the Big influencers didn't reflect the movement as a whole...just those that followed...and many were lone wolfs...whatever you want to call them Non Traditionalists, Squares, Has Beens or many times said here "Those that don't get it"... It's okay there is the Hokey Ass Forum for those that missed the wave of progress... The white wall presses never stopped whatever width they were and surely they didn't all go on OEM Vehicles...

I used to strongly dislike whitetails, but lately I've been thinking they look right on the right car... and apparently @Moriarity owns them all
Its one of those universal options...Hotrod/Custom/Race Glad you saw the White... Credit to Photographers, Owners
I have both sets. Dad liked his whitewalls but after he passed I switched it up with some blackwalls. He was not a fan of black wheels with black tires, but I like them.
