Well, today was the day that I finally found one.
It is a former Shriner's Clown Car that was in excellent condition and eventhough it was altered to make the Clown Car, the body is in very good shape with only the Back Panel needing to be replaced due to a modification that was made.

I am including images of a substantially similar Clown Car that was for sale on the HAMB some time age. I bought the body only, since the original Model T engine and transmission were already spoken for. I will have to take some photos of the chassis that this body came off of. It was a wheel standing Clown car of unknown origin.

My plans, to take cues from Kim Vranas' T Touring build and make this a real Cool
Custom Hot Rod. It is looking like a hand built chassis is going to be the way to go utilizing 2 x 4 box tubing with custom sewpt front rails grafted in at the cowl area.
From the Cowl rearward, I will follow the contour of the body with the 2 x 4 and hopefully be successful at doing a 1932 style reveal in the side of the frame rail. The second possibility is utilizing '32 Rails and custom fabbing the rest. It will be highboy with a Model A front Crossmember and still not certain on the Rear Crossmember and axle/suspension.

SBF for power -or- anything else Ford that comes along that will give the build a cool factor. Not sure on the Transmission yet. 35 - 36 Wheels with a cool rubber rake are my first choice.
Everything else is up in the air for now. Still in the planning stages right now.

    Stay Tuned.

(Quite a coincidence that the car that I like is called the VOO DOO DOLL !!)

    Picked her up last night.
Here are some Pix of the chassis that it came off of.
The entire chassis and driveline were already sold.
I had no interest in any of that stuff so there are Two of us that are happy.

I actually think clown cars are kool. Shriners do so much for sick kids. If A clown car helps them raise money then that’s two thumbs up from me.

I hope you decide not to use a Deuce grille shell. Though a very handsome thing it's been done forever on A's and the A grille is cool in its own right!

    I’m with you on the 32 shell but I think a T should run a T shell. I have a 26 T modified with a T shell and am working on a 26 roadster that will also run a T shell.

I have the original T shell and Lower Shell apron as well as the original Hood.
Started stripping off the Yellow paint last night. The original Black paint is still underneath the Yellow and still sticking like crazy. The Yellow came off very easily.
    Moving Forward already.

Unless you can find a cherry original rear panel, you should probably just patch the one you have. The repros I've seen don't fit worth a dang and have a poor curve to them.

Ooooops! I typed "A" when I meant "T". A T on a T and an A on an A. Just because that beautiful Deuce grille shell has been overdone as a transplant...

You got that right! I do like 30-31’s with a deuce shell but that’s about it.

  20. Old neighbor maintained a T parade car for some civic group. When I got a little older; I noticed it didn't have a T rear end; next time he was working on it, I stopped by and visited; turns out he put a B engine, trans, and an A rear in it. He said he changed it out as he was tired of training new guys to work the T's three pedals all the time.

Starting in on the body work. There isn't very much. This body is real clean. Most of the grinded off areas are holes that I will be filling.
The area between the Frt and Rr Doors on both sides will be cut out and patch panels welded in. The Two arched areas on each Rear Door is where the builder burned the Hell out of the Door Skin(s) with his trusty Arch Welder ! when he welded the Rear Fenders to the Doors.

Spent the day stripping the body and roughing in the little sheet metal replacement that is needed.

Spent another Snowy Syracuse day taking care of the RT. & LT. Quarter Panel Supports. Orignially, this area was actually just the point where the Quarter Panel and Dogleg panels overlapped. I decided to cut all rot out and replace the area with a formed piece of 18 gauge steel as seen in the pix. I will then fabricate a one piece panel to fill in the area and weld all seams together. I had the welder set a little cold and once I turned up the heat, the welds laid down much better. Hoping to have the body wrapped up and in Epoxy primer in the next couple of weeks.

Metal Prepping. The sheetmetal on this body is real clean. The dull grey areas are Evercoat Metal 2 Metal filler. The rest is original Henry steel. This steel is completely different that the steel of the last 50 years. Metal Prep 1.jpg Metal Prep 2 .jpg Metal Prep 3.jpg Metal Prep 4.jpg

I'm interested in knowing how the steel is different from newer steel - I've got a 27 touring waiting it's turn and will be going down this road too.
