I have acquired a NOS pair of Appleton S451 spots, in the box with drill guides and templates . They will be going on my 41 ford coupe. My question is, I don't have the friction bushing, the piece of metal with an eyelet on each end that goes into the interior once the spots are placed . Was this a aftermarket item or was it included in the whole purchase of the spots? Or did this series of spotlights not come with one? Thanks for any help.

Hombre: This pair is amazing. Mint! Haven't ever seen anything like these, since 1955. Guys...On this extreme subject, IS there someone re-popping the Appletons? Seems like there Must be...What about the great Foxcraft skirts? Did anybody 'pick those up'? .....pun intended...
You may check Unity for those parts or Chev of the 40s. I would think the Unity parts would fit the Appletons. By the way, what did those baby apples run you??

Jcmarz.. The spotlights were a wedding gift from my fiancé . She knows her stuff I can tell you. She listens and researched it all. From what I know it was around $2300
My Dad had pair that he bought new and he installed them on his 51 Merc conv. When he sold the the for $50 (in 1960). Later, in the 70s, I asked my dad if I could have them, so he gave them to me, but I never used them. Then, about 10 years ago, I gave them to my nephew and he installed them on his 41 Chevy and to date, they are still on the car.
Hey Hombre… You lucked out and live right. I have a set of friction bushings, brand new chrome, excellent condition that I'm not using on my car. (long story). Anyhow, I can take a picture tomorrow so I can post here or e-mail to you. Let me know which way you'd like to get the pics, and a price you're willing to pay for them. And yes, they came with the spotlights when originally purchased, not an aftermarket deal. Without them, structural integrity was diminished after installing the spots.
