this used to be such a great swap meet covered the whole grounds and the track, the last time i was there the fall of 2018 there was maybe 20 vendors out side the building was 2/3rds full and the track was closed completely empty.

Moriarity is correct. This is the AACA fall swap meet that used to be at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids. The Hawkeye Downs spring swap meet ran by the Hawk A Model A Ford club is also supposed to move to Central City although I have not seen it posted on the Hawk A club calendar yet.

I might make it, but I don't have a newspaper carriers bag.

I may go. I'd like it to be successful in it's new location.

Swap meets in general aren't what they used to be but those guys also had a run of reality crappy weather for the fall one at Hawkeye Downs.

  14. Nice, 3 hour drive to a swap meet; wish you could sign me up! Closest I have to me is 6 hour drive, the ones in the US I can't even get to, yet.

Yep been going many years. Years a go would go to Davenport and hang out with my buddy Bruce then a short drive up from there.

I met @Corn Fed and @alchemy this morning. Really small event compared with the old Hawkeye downs days. I was seeming like it was laid out by someone who had never been to a swap meet before..... here is the little bit of stuff I got

Thanks for posting, did you happen to notice what the going rate is for the quart oil cans?

I wasn't feeling well this morning so I didn't get there until noon. About half the vendors had already left or were packing up to leave. Only thing I bought was a sandwich. Really disappointing. I remember going to Hawkeye Downs all day to see it all.

  26. 20211002_101732(0).jpg Well, I was there, but didnt have a news paper bag on my shoulder. Found a few good things. Brought home a sweet 1961 283 for my next A project, so it wasn't a bad day.

So that's the magazine a buddy of mine was talking about, said the guy that bought it had the car in his living room. By the way, he was very impressed with your "living room" photos!
(I knew who he was talking about the minute I heard the story, lol)
