...Bubbletop...Cool...Hey Rozy...Way ahead of its time...Levitate Oh yeah... just some of my thoughts...some day they may...Vairs to Jetsons @themoose ...always Inspiring and Lifting Moments you create...;)

I worked in a plant where they built the Avrocar under contract for the US in the mid to late 50s and I believe they are both still around based on similar principal to your flying Custom Bubbletop...It was a bit wobbly but did at least hover and move...interesting times...

Your Inspiration looks earlier like early 50s and that was on the drawing boards at the time for sure with the Jet Age...

Happy Friday, everyone! Here's a '55 I just finished for a client. Micron pens, Sharpie, and Posca white on toned gray paper.

Custom 1959 two door Nomad Station Wagon 4 Speed, 335 Hp Super Stock 348 Ci Motor Positraction + Rear Air Shocks

    Hello,

Custom station wagons have been around for many years. But my take was to make a custom 1959 El Camino into a 2 door Nomad style two door station wagon. For those that like station wagons… the term came from those very early days of woodies that lined up at the “railroad station” to take the customers home from the weary train travels. It also went into the high end vacation hotels to offer pickups at the railroad “station” for their customers to come to the hotel in style. Hence the name: Station Wagons…

Since October is Halloween month, the custom Orange 1959 El Camino was made into an Orange station wagon that, in this case, was the transportation vehicle to bring the giant pumpkins home. Or deliver to the hotels offering station wagon pick up and door to door services.

As much as the factory rear station wagon springs were heavy duty, possible air shocks of some kind are a necessity for a heavier load in the rear area. A custom rake as the normal stance would lower the rear to make it a ground hugging delivery service.

There is no need for a sedan delivery. As without the stuff in the back, at least the picked up passengers at the “station” would be able to see out, versus a sedan delivery’s blind rear panels. A definite “twofer” for goods and services.

In reality, the El Camino body and frame was similar to the station wagon and only the top would have been the hardest to make and install. The bed of the El Camino was ready for the rear passengers with a secret compartment that was the rear foot well area. So, hard work, yes, but a cool different station wagon for sure.

This is the "Portal of the Three-Legged Crow" named after a legend common to Korea, Japan and China. The legs are made with vintage Mack connecting rods.

This is a play on one of Hot Rod Jack's many drawings, one that he posted
last Friday in the FAS. For whatever reason, it caught my eye and I thought
it could make for a great little notepad for those of us that dig everything
auto, or Jack's got a new little logo
to use on his sketches. Anyway, with
Jack's permission, here's my take on his sketch...
