I recently bought a '34 Ford Roadster that is an old hot rod/custom car and has sat unused for many, many years. As to be expected some parts went missing during this time... In order to slowly bring the car back in the road without destroying too much of its history, I am starting to collect the missing parts. Unfortunately also the headlight reflector inserts, rings and lenses are missing and I have no idea what type of headlights were used. They are smaller than the stock '34 headlights (about 8" diameter) and have a small glass marker light in the top (which could also have been added later)... I would appreciate any hints to what type of headlights these could be and/or where to get the missing parts... The lens on mine looks very similar. Maybe you are just 03E55546-6A7B-4931-B3CF-7F42FE62AC1E.jpeg C22C6D0C-D932-4462-B953-AF2A15784B10.jpeg missing the metal part that holds the lens in place.

I believe I recognize this Hotrod...does it have Bobbed lower fenders minus the running boards...It was featured here in a Thread a couple years back...

Congratulations on getting it whether or not it's it...please tease us with a pic...the striping is talking to me...

The notches in the bucket where the headlight rests are alignment slots for the bulb...

Check out the B-L-C headlight guide on google, this looks like a 904 style light and it says that OTB has rings to fit. How about some more pics, looks interesting as it sits? Thanks, Carp.

That car was for sale here in the classified's. Look like Dietz lights to me, usually something will be stamped in the bucket, sometimes at the back, maybe filled with paint and hard to see unless sand blasted.

Many thanks for all the quick answers! The lamps Seen to be indeed BLC 904a and now I also know where to get the needed parts... The knowledge of H.A.M.B again amazes me...
As Rusty Valley stated above, the car was for sale here in the classifieds for a while...it is a little time capsule but also quite a project (at least for me). Initially my plan was to build a typical '34 highboy roadster out of it, but after finally getting the car home and seeing it in person, I decided that I just can't destroy the cool old custom paint from the early 60ies... Now I will try to bring it carefully back to life with some personal touches but keeping most of the old style of the car (including the fenders)...

Nice garage! That crooked swing tube running across the top of that Sun machine in that pic though, that really offends my OCD. You need to straighten that out or somethin'!

The glass lenses are nowhere to be found and not reproduced. I bought a pair to get 1 cracked lens to replace the missing 1 on my avatar. I did buy some Lucite to hopefully turn some lenses on the lathe but that hasn't happened yet.

Great car, glad you're planning to preserve it's history. Unlimited new highboy roadsters can be built with new bodies, there's only one just like this one and once it's changed it can never go back, you're doing it right.

I think that every normal 7" headlight insert should fit, using the reproduced OTB outer rings and insert rings... There are many different 7" inserts on the Market and I even can buy some over here that comply with the local government rules to be street legal...

  16. BLC 904 A , I have a pair at home , away for the week , pretty sure they use a standard high beam/low beam headlight .
Also known as a perculator headlight as the glass lens on top is similar to a coffee perculator. Great Lights !!!

I was talking about the glass "perculator" marker lens, not the headlight bulb. Yes, they use normal 7" headlight bulbs.

  19. Dave ,
One of the perculator glass lenses is cracked on mine , although still intact , been looking for a replacment for some time now ,just in case .
One of those items you will find in the bottom of somebodies junk boxes or 5 dollar tables at a swap meet . A rare headlight I suppose !!!
