So are the tops of the Tudor window frames matched to the roof line of your build...I'm surprised you don't exploit the unusual door tops...but I assume you like the 29 look door tops...

They will be, but I'll cross that bridge after the last door top is welded in place. There are a lot of things that need to be done to get other things done. All the door chopping is being done so the top hinge on the rear doors can be dropped. After the doors are done I think I'll adjust the cowl and work to the back.

Boy someone will no doubt be after the discards from the doors and Roof...not that there's anything wrong with that...:)

When I have a moment I will see if I can swap in some Sedan tops on the doors of the Inspiration I did...;)

...I added straight upper door frames and straightened the drip-rail to match...you can see the chop comparison with the longer rule being fit to the belt to top hinge is shown exceeding the height of the opening depicted in the Inspiration above...I'm of the opinion 1.5 to 2" lower to the 10" of your 1st thoughts...the splash aprons relieve the 32 frame mod in my opinion...thoughts?

Bob this project is really cool...what engine, hopped up banger over Flathead V8? I should go back and read eh...:)

WOW! All I have to do is build it. That is exactly how it has looked in my mind. That is quite a gift to be able to take someone's thoughts and produce an image. My idea is to build something based on a '29-31 Bentley, so maybe the 354 HEMI would provide the right rumble. Bob

...another inspiration to stoke the reality a bit...with a visit to the Dry Lakes for Hotrod ambience...

I ran it in the Art Show as I feel a real connection to the Vintage Challenges we face in decisions and really like this unique mix of Hotrod/Custom...

Note the front fender is a inspiration to the Roadster and Chris's Sketch...miniature moon discs behind the A Bone Caps to create a larger cap...rear fender slightly Bobbed at back and front, same chop as before top opening around height of lowered window in rear door on original pic, splash aprons lengthened due to stylized front fender...straight pipes out the back...blowing smoke rings of course...:)

Mounting the front fenders could be fixed to Frame/Body or actually mounted as cycle to turn with wheels...

I did drop the body down a wee bit more as Chris's art had it low but I didn't want it too low...

The way that Roadster was done was sophisticated and somewhat Genius in execution...again it's just art and thoughts so Bob you are in control of how you make it happen...

Again it's a pleasure and a real cool project with oodles of Character...

I'm starting with the left rear door. Last year I started on one corner but changed my mind, now I think I have a good plan working to the 10 inches glass opening. Flat top and the top chop are two things going on at the same time. I have a plan, just can't explain every step. Two vertical cuts on the top of the door saving that inner curve 9 to 12 and 12 to 3. Add the flat Tudor piece once I know where the cuts will go. Tack in place, then figure out where the side cuts will go. That top hinge is riveted in place, I'll cut some stock to slide inside and roseate welds will give the door some strength. That's my plan for 4th of July fireworks.

Great day, made all the cuts, now I just need to weld them together. Upper corners need some fine tuning, glad I have some Tudor rear quarter window pieces.

That piece of scrap has been saved for over 6 months just to make the cut guide. Worked great gave me matching cuts on both sides, and 90 degrees to the outer surface.

Found this box of bits the day after I found out I needed them. Totally forgot I had them, they turned up while looking for something else . Think they came from Maine. Like installing shoe molding in an old house, mixing old with new there will be a lot of cutting and fitting before things can be welded, and the corners look right.

Removed the structural stuff from those Coupe corners, they will go in the "To Be Blasted" pile. There is more than enough material to cut out the needed bits, sending them this way gives the blaster something to hold on to.

DSCF0004.JPG DSCF0005.JPG Cut that 7 inch long piece of stock to align all three pieces. The top hinge on the rear doors is the only one that gets moved, this should make for a better joint. Checking the fit of the mating surfaces is next. Reshot with the green screen material I got at a tag sale today, things do look better. Bob DSCF0010.JPG DSCF0008.JPG

Thanks Stogy! Nice work using the Cadillac lens rims for Hank's glasses. The Hood update is nice too, gives me a better idea of how things might look. Bob :):)

There is a 354 HEMI in the garage, it may go in the Steelback or the Roadster. A Model B Four Banger with an overhead is another option. That is years away at the pace I'm at.

Funny how things some how fall together. Saturday I went to pick up a motorcycle frame at a local meet and the vendor had left for the day, but left it it with the vendor next door, along with two near perfect 28-29 front fenders. Saw him the next day at another meet, now I'm kicking myself, never saw them, hope he sold them before I got there. $150. was a give away price. The thread on "Tater" just came back to life, the car that has inspired me the copy the front fender modification. DSCF1176.jpg

Hershey was GREAT! Found a pair of 1930 Cadillac tail lights! Both rights without the plate light, guess I'll have a plate in the center. Got another front fender to work with. DSCF8573.JPG DSCF8575.JPG
