So, i took my 32 to the races and ran it today. I have ran it many times with no time slip. It has done well and been fun, but today i got a time slip. I am very happy with a 10.87 in my four speed, all steel 1932 coupe that is very period correct to the early 60s. Show my what you got, and give me a time slip. 2. Dads coupe with a Hemi and Torqueflite has gone 12.0 so far. Hopefully next year 11's without major changes. 5Y9A9638.jpg out-a-sight 2021.jpg 5Y9A8521.jpeg

  8. I get what you are after Jim, but on the HAMB, the litmus test is to drive to the HAMB Drags and prove it. @flamedabone and a couple others are tops

  9. My best time slip ever: ET 59.43, MPH 118 something. And that was in the quarter, none of that 1000ft or 1/8th mile shit....

  10. IMG_20200927_165440382.jpg 11.44 at 117mph so far. The car is well capable of 10's but I'm still shaking it out. And becoming a better driver, I hope. Racing isn't as easy as it looks!
*edit - balls out in a blown 4 speed car is fun no matter what the ET!

Not the 1/4 mile, but the timed flying mile up in Maine (LTA) a few years back. 125.95. It got a little wobbly at the end of the run, but still proud of her with a mildly warmed over 350 cil SBC for power. This was after a 14 hour solo ride there from where I live. fullsizeoutput_6df.jpeg

Mine too, but usually 10% ethanol. They usually have that in 91 or 93, whichever I can get in the area.

  21. So is this hamb drags a week long with a thousand miles of driving thrown in to break your spirit, and your car? One drag race, vs drag week? Squirrel wins.

    Au contraire.
Performance and hot rodding go hand-in-hand. For me I enjoy hearing about how fast other cars run and I add that little bit of data to my mental library. It helps me realize what is possible and how much one can gain from where one is performance-wise today.

Not everybody cares how fast their car runs. Some crowds would rather ask "How many coats of lacquer did you lay down in your paint job?" or " Whose cam has the lumpiest idle quality?"

I feel a kindred closeness to any rodder who gets an e.t. for his car. I have nothing but respect for anybody who gets his car to go down a drag strip or a LSR run because I know it is not easy - it is a lot of work to make it happen in most cases, regardless of the time turned.

    Race on brothers and sisters...

The Yahoo Cup at the HAMB Drags has something to do with driving your car so many miles to get there. I haven't been to the HAMB Drags since before I built my Chevy II. In 2012 I took my 55, but it was slower than flamedabone's car, so he got it.

  24. One thing I can say is cars at the track are a lot different from the alleged 9 second street cars attending cruise ins.

    11.18 @ 118. I think there's a 10 or lower 11 once I get the fuel system updated.

Best my avatar truck ever ran was 13.90 or so at about 96 mph in the 1/4 mile. That would be good if it was 1966, eh? It is heavy at 2800 lbs. Has a GM 3.8L (that's a flathead sized 230 cubes) V-6 with blower from a 2000 Grand Prix. All stock. 4spd auto from a 2000 V6 Camaro. Never gets to 4th gear. My reaction times are in the 2 second range. LOL.

    It's still wrecked...
Roof looks like someone stomped on it. But it was reflections of the clouds. Which was all I saw for a bit. Almost needed new shorts after that one.
