Original sucks. This is a hot rod sight ain't it? Didn't realize this was a restoration forum. Looked like my grandma's car before, now it looks like a speed week road trip car. Remember the deathmobile in animal house?? ROADTRIP!!!!
A rat rod is something constructed out of the scrap pile, from this and that, not a black car with red wheels. People always called my shit a ratrod, but being an unfinished car doesn't classify it as a rat.
There are cars that should be "Hot-Rodded" and some that shouldn't. This one is in the second category.
I wouldn't say taking a hell of a nice looking car and making it look clapped out with phony lettering is hot rodding. It is just taking a really nice car and making it a fake car because you don't think it drew enough attention before. Typical "I'm putting a car to drive to Bonneville to pose" BS.
What if that's all you can afford to do? Strip off some parts to make it lighter, throw your personal touch on the paint? Gene Winfield said they'd put an antenna on the car just so they could stick a fox tail on the antenna, no radio, but that was how they'd customize their car. Guess we all have our own idea of what hot rodding is.
I think some people forget that sitting at a keyboard criticizing others doesn’t make you a hot rodder either….
I gotta agree...it sure looked like a "Grandma car" before the transition. And...judging by the other cars @sissel has, he knows what the fuck he's doing.
The car was perfect before the mods. not a custom, not a hot rod, not @sissel ’s . now it’s a mild custom , hot rod , whatever you want to call it it’s Sissels and it’s COOL !!!! I like both renditions , what ever floats your boat. No need to bash it. not like he put dual wheels in the back a tea pot on top of the carb for an air filter and adorned it with spiderwebs !!!!!! sheesh! It’s paint people ! Take your wife’s panties off things are getting a bit squished and aggravated
Some opinions should be left in your mind. If your gonna rage about someone ride, whisper to your pal, wife, kid etc. not here. I like it.
I have a bullet nose in the shed. It is not going to be original. If I were to build it today it would be a fake gasser, that would lead to a discussion. Like wearing period clothes at TROG, it’s not everyone’s thing, but as it turns out it’s a lot of people’s thing. A guy who lives in Norway builds a tribute to American hot rodding, take the compliment and thank the guy.
The cool thing is, love it or hate it, the man is in Norway, and obviously he is a gear head, and he did it his way! "It takes leather balls to play rugby " And it takes guts to do what this guy did to his car ! Gotta respect him for that ! " So called controversial creativity " Everybody has a different idea of what that is ! Right on @sissel ! Your other rides are very cool as well ! I tip my hat to you !
