Unchopping a chopped 57 Ford Ranchero windshield

One more panel (passenger side lower rear inner quarter pnl)... still need rear floor section

 

The panel I used to have but used on an earlier build... Just missed this one... mines not rusted but it sure would have been nice to to work with a new part...

Posted earlier... but, I thought I'd show all the parts together... I also have a NOS tailgate that I haven't dug out of the rafters...

 

Holy Shit, Thom! That sure makes life easier on the quarters....If I could ever find a minute to work on the thing.

Sorry for the lack of updates about my daughter, for anyone who has been keeping us in their prayers. Allison has been home from the hospital since mid-August and has not had any real problems come up. We are still spending extra time working on her eating habits and dealing with the typical fussiness of a teething 11 month old, but all things considered we're feeling very lucky that she has recovered as smoothly as she has. It's hard to believe that she is almost 1 already!

Sad to say, it's been a year since I put any kind of real work into the Ranchero and I'm definitely missing the garage. I've been working over 50 hours a week pretty regularly for quite some time now at my day job, and with everything else it's been impossible to find any time. I'm hoping that the new year will bring with it a less hectic schedule and that Allison will get into a less needy rhythm at home.

Thanks again for all the prayers and support over the last year and I'm looking forward to providing some much needed updates to this awesome project!

 

Locating panels to finish up the rear has been slow... we still need the panel shown in post 572... and any leads on rear floor panels from a wagon or Ranchero...

Good news - we have the rear quarters outer/innner for both sides... lower inner for the passenger side...

Hmm just wondering if you have ever seen a 58 wagon tailgate used on a 57-8 ranchero... Glad your still at it

 

Actually, I picked up the most of the parts I needed this weekend and Scott is going to start back on it soon...

Yes... the Ranchero is once again being pulled from the back burner... I have most of the panels needed and we will make any required to finish up... Now, being the belt & suspender kind of guy - the professionals among will probably be rolling on your garage floor as I unfold our approach to replacing the quarter panels...

The goal was to have the ability to switch from the rotisserie to a solid floor support and back to the rotisserie easily... we felt that the rear bed/floor should be supported to an equivalant of a frame when the quarters were being aligned and tack welded so a sub frame was made incorporating original body mounts and stress points...

The passenger rear had very minor repair over the years so we decided to build off the drivers side.. additionally the passenger side lower inner quarter will also be replaced since we have NOS panels and a little more alignment/ adjustment may be required...

No… never been listed but - it could be bought… I have a spare 57 and I don’t need two

 

BTW… floor was painted years ago… so, painting frame and assembly will be a challenge but I thankful we have other sections done
