Can anyone tell me what the threads are on the stromberg 97 choke lever fulcrum screw. Look like 6mm but smaller in Diam. I want to repair it with a heilicoil. If no heilicols are avaliable I will go with JB weld and greasing the screw threads so screw will be removable. Thanks .

If you've got the screw you can measure the thread there.

It won't be metric..... More like a 10-32 would be my guess. I don't have one to look at. As suggested, you have the screw so find a nut that fits and go from there.

Ah, Henry Ford loved #12 bolts. Horrible to find them nowadays.

Specialty drawers of nuts and bolts at Home Depot, just bought a small bunch of #5 Allen headed screws for a dash install.

It may not be quite the same, but I fixed several 94's a few years ago with (I believe) 10-32 helicoils. The screws holding the top to the main body were stripped. It worked very well.

Thank you for all your replies. 12-28 seems right bigger than a 10-32 . I must have found a 12-28 nut which screws right on to the fulcrum screw.

FYI found 12-28 recoil heilicoil kits on line for around $40 not cheap but include insert tool, tap ,drill and inserts to do the repair correctly.

  10. You can send the carburetor top / air horn to Charlie NY on the ford barn. Charlie has done several repairs on air horns for me. Charlie makes an insert, installs it, and taps the inset to 12-28.
