I've often thought that if this shot doesn't raise your blood pressure at least a little then you truly are not a gearhead.
And no, this was not intended to be a play on words either.

Looks like Rich Siroonian checking out the competition at Indy, maybe ‘63 or ‘64, SWC is still running the Olds.
Larry Teter’s C/G Victoria is in the background.

20210918_021425~2.jpg 20210918_021326~2.jpg Well guy's it been awhile since I have posted , I used to flip through old magazine's in my collection and post cool shots of drag car's preferably in motion...
Just got a new very large collection of all the old favorites from the 50's thru early 70's most mint condition in plastic sleeves.
So as I flip through them...I will post the cool shots that I find.
Here's some shots of the covers of a few as a sampler.

  12. Those were the days when Hot Rod Magazine was worth the money that you paid for it.

    Hey Guys,

Nice photo of the SWC coupe. But, by the time of the Winternationals in 1964-65 Doug Cook was already an “older” hot rod guy. He was made famous with the 1937 Chevy coupe that held plenty of records in drag racing all over So Cal.

    Doug Cook total

He started in the early days of Lion’s Dragstrip and by the time he had the 37 Chevy coupe winning, he was an older adult. Small in stature, but huge in knowledge and abilities. He was impressive to talk to and was friendly enough to give us some ideas to go faster in our Willys Coupe later on in 1959-60 era. He was still winning in C/Gas and B/Gas during this time period.

But, we were teenagers and he was an adult.

Here are the photos of that era at the Winternationals. By that time period, we were also adults or at least we pretended to be adults. Ha!

Bobby Schlegel restored that to its injected iteration (before the blower was added). Last I heard Rich Venza owned it here in Atlanta.
