today we did one of the last summer runs over to Newcastle Wyoming. It’s a hair over a hundred miles from our house to the show and shine. We took my mom and dads 50 club coupe that is a 70,000 mile barn find car with a stock 239, my mom and sister drove it, my pops drove his 28 A-v8 roadster powered by a 59-a, my wife and daughter drove our 26 T modified powered by an 8ba and I drove my single seater powered by a 236 Dodge flathead six. We took off a few minutes after sunrise heading to the northern hills of the black hills of South Dakota over O’Neill pass (highest pass in the northern hills) on our way to Wyoming. Had a great day and all the cars made there and back with no problems.
It was 41 degrees in the morning through the high hills and 90s on the way home! Have to love South Dakota weather.
It's been a weird year. It's good to see people out and back together again. The cruising season is never long enough.
I’ve just returned from that area out west. We loved the black hills. Just beautiful. The low humidity surprised me. Good weather for flathead cruising.
Your sister always brings a smile to the conversation. Since I don't have the sales route that brought me thru Piedmont for a long time I have not seen her forever, same with your Pops. Tell him he retired from the plant at the right time
Therefore the Family Drive made the Day...no problems...Perfect...sure was a great reliability run...glad all went well...
Speaking of reliability runs. I was invited on a reliability run two weeks ago driving the single seater, it was mapped out and if my memory serves me right 120 miles plus the 20 it took to get to the starting point and last weekend we attended a show and shine that was a 40 mile round trip. So in the last few weekends I’ve driven the little shit box about 400 miles.
Unfortunately yes, it’s been a fixture all summer long. We fortunately(knock on wood) haven’t had a big fire in the black hills this summer.
