  1. Neat pictures, can you just image the noise of those open headers inside that place. That would have been something to see and hear in person.

I had the honor to meet and become friends with Red Williams R.I.P.
Got the opportunity race Red at HHRR in 2017

I had Arnie sign this at Cordova’s World Series of Drag Racing in 2007. He had never seen this image and I had a second copy with me so I gave it to him, needless to say he was thrilled to have it. He’s a true gentleman, friendly and reachable.

  5. There's a few older threads about the indoor drag races at the international amphitheater. Most of these pictures have been posted in the past, but the advertisement or flyer hasn't.

Looks like a cool idea for a winter race but crashing could be rough, those pylons could be brutal.

And smell/breathe in, Hope they had good exhaust fans near the burnout area:D
That would have been cool to see, Looks like they had pretty low ceilings compared to the arenas of today where they have indoor automotive events.
    Thanks for sharing! Pretty interesting.

Didn't they race midgets in there also ? Around that same time ?

  14. Yes, we watched midgets race at the Amphitheatre back then. Also drove a rented go kart there about that time.

We did the swap meet back in the late 70's or 80's in there. It is hard to believe they raced inside the Amphitheater.

A Bttt for one of the wilder types of autosport racing and a Happy Birthday to @61cad...

It's nice to see Threads without the dreaded red x's...

I heard they also raced midgets in the center part. We did a few swap meets in the 80's

Crazy stuff! Appears the cars exit out after the race. “Stay in your own lane” was a real thing for sure
