I think I am going for a random orbit Dynabrade 3/16" orbit 5" or 6" palm sander, with integrated vacuum. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these 2 styles of Dynabrades? Model : X15 V , 5" with 3/16" orbit https://www17.dynabrade.com/view-product.php?mn=X51V Model : 59023 , 5" with 3/16" orbit https://www17.dynabrade.com/view-product.php?mn=59023 Is there a brand and model that most of you prefer?
I think you're doing well looking at Dynabrade. I have the silver version of a 3" sander and it's the nicest DA I've ever used. Smooth and quiet.
I've tried quite a few different DAs in the last 20 years but the only brand I've bought is Dynabrade. Excellent quality and feel working them. I use the 6" in all three orbits, the oldest one is 20 years old it has been worked hard and is still working without problems.
the 6 inch is the easiest to get paper for,the 5 inch paper is a little harder to find?.Might matter if your jobber doesnt carry it all the time.Get a good pad for it,the cheap ones will break when you need them the most. Sticky or velcro paper,it doesnt really matter,i normally use them up pretty good, cant really re-use the velcro ones, its not an issue for me.
It looks like there is a weight difference between the 3 different models. The 6" black bodied one, which is the Dynorbital Supreme is around 2.1 - 2.3 lbs The 6" green bodied one, the Dynorbital Spirit is around 1.6 lbs The 6" silver bodied one, the Dynorbital Silver Supreme is around 2 lbs Other than the weight difference I can't really tell what is better.
Look at 3M tools…very smooth, comfortable in your hand, very serviceable, and very reasonable..this one has a self generated vacum…keep yourself and your shop a little cleaner https://www.amazon.com/Random-Orbit...ocphy=9016884&hvtargid=pla-786720657072&psc=1
Anyone know the difference between the ergonomic shaped X series Dynabrade and the traditional style ones, like the Dynorbital series?
