Imagine you could take yourself and your hot rod back in time to when you were in your early 20's and show yourself your hot rod?

    What would younger you say?

Mine would be ( in no particular order ) Air conditioning ? Are you crazy ?! You know how much power your losing ? And how much weight you've added ??

3.08 gears ? What the h*'ll ? You need at least 3:90's !! Where did the dang 4 speed go? That auto trans ain't gonna run as fast as a 4 speed !

And last but not least..... Who gives a d*mn what kind of gas milage it gets ! Is it fast ???

Yep those are the top questions I use to ask back then !

Ha, I was a bad seed in my 20s. I'd have said "let's sell the car and buy a bunch of blow."

    Luckily I've been cultured since....

My younger self (in the 80's) was already buying Halibrands and winged Stewart Warners. I think I did OK. I wish I'da bought more '32 sheetmetal though.

I would tell myself to keep every car I ever had. Put shelves for them in the barn. Sell them all, right about now.o_O

I had joined a hotrod club, when I was 14,then two more by the time I was in my Sr. Year of Jr High= but had started, collecting car parts in 6th grade, kept doing that, tell I had a running 28A hot rod by 1959. That was my first build for me,so my first baby. Helped on a number of others, did some others forsale, an many racecars.
But I kept my first baby,an still drive it=It still looks as it did in 1960> but for added chrome header and a folding top>that comes off with two wingnuts.
Same colors and engine, anyone that saw it in my high school 60 to 1962,would know it right away.
I liked what I did as a teen, and now at 79yo,I still like it.
No plans to change,it was good in highschool an good now to me.
So in my case,I still pat my self on the back, for getting the first one right.

Not get her knocked up because when I was able to build it got expensive.

  11. I would hit all the jalopy derbys and tell the drivers of the '32 - '34 Fords that I'd haul all their discarded fenders and grilles away for free.

I'm only in my late 20's now but 10 years ago me would say "You are still poor and haven't finished anything yet? What have you been doing the last 10 years"

  13. read my signature, just get one nice looking vehicle and move on. Can't drive them all at the same time

  16. My younger self would be well pleased with the bus but disappointed the merc and gmc are still in the garage.
However, I would pat myself up on the back for stuff I built for other folks

    D**M you lived passed your 20 S ?

  18. You are a smart man. We have all tripped up on this one

  19. Ok dummy, listen up. You finished the T. You finished the Norton chopper. They're just the way you want 'em. Now shove 'em in the corner a forget about 'em. You won't really need more than those two (should have listened to that one). Concentrate on your Sprint car. Buy all the rental property you can get your hands on (glad I listened to that one). Oh, and get your Pilots license (wish I had listened to that one). If I had listened to me about the hot rod and chopper, I'd have a GEE-BEE racer sitting in the shop right now instead of my Easy Eagle project. But hey, it's still been a hell of an e-ticket ride.

Now after the car "talk" with my 20 yr old self I would have left myself a note stating " forget the booze and broads and buy lots and lots of Microsoft and apple stock, then at 55 you can buy all the booze, broads and cars you want ! "...

  22. I learned a formula that worked when I was a young man and stuck with it. I guess if anything younger me would say, "What the hell that's a 30 dollar car!!!!!"

When I went thru my first divorce the first question asked by my buddies was " did the b*tch leave your cars?! " I'd answer yes and they'd reply "smart girl after all" LOL !!
