My ‘41 didn’t have any parking lights when i got it. I watched for some for quite a while with no luck. After looking at different cars a the shows, I decided on those from late 40’s fords. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
After a number of years, I finally pulled the trigger on the wheels for the sedan. I opted for the US Wheel, Deuce style. The rears are 15x6 and the fronts are 16x4.5. The plan is for Firestone 820-15 on the rear and Firestone 650-16 on the front. will also be running the '41 caps on the fronts.
I was able to get the tires mounted up last week and tested them on the car friday. the rear works, the fronts are too big. Now I have a pair of tires forsale.
Was able to get the drivers side on Saturday. And thought i would show some fun pics of the shop Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I really like the skirts on your sedan, I've been wondering what my car would look like with them. It hasn't been easy to find pix of the sedans with skirts so I was pleasantly surprised to find this build thread. You've got metal fab skills that are waaaaaay beyond mine, it is always amazing to me to see how easy you guys make it look, lol. I have the same car, 1941 2 door sedan with Mustang 2 front suspension. I've got a 283 with a TH350 behind it, 4 wheel disc brakes. It is the most comfortable and easiest driving car I own, the ride quality is almost as good as my 2010 Challenger (and much more fun to drive). You'll be happy with yours when you get it on the road, I'm sure!
thank you @brokedownbiker. My skills are nearly that of the others I see, but might not be to bad for a weekender.
Worked on the exhaust this weekend. Passenger side went well. Drivers side will take a little more time until I get clear of the steering shaft, then it should be a mirror image of the passenger side. trying to decide if I should fight it up and over the axle or sneak under it.
was able to get the drivers site tacked together from the manifold to the muffler and welded the passenger side up fully.

Couple of questions. On both sides, have some issues at the outer edges of the taillight pad, including a couple of holes. Looks like someone even brazed it at some point. I have been trying to decide what the best plan of attack might be. One of which is frenching the factory taillights. Any suggestions?
[QUOTE="buick bill, post: 13822524, member: 70121 did you use the stock rear leafs? ive been told if you flip frnt to back the pins come out in the right location !? [/QUOTE] No, incorrect. The rear springs have the same distance centering pin to eye both directions. But what you can do is disassemble the stack, and use a carbide 3/8" drill bit to drill a new center hole in the main leaf. Then the other leafs can be bolted back to the stack to make it centered. Usually have to remove or trim the longest leaf before reassembling though. My '39 Chev coupe sat way too high, so I tossed all but my main leaf, and used flatter leafs from a '58 Chev 1/2 ton front axle. I put 3 on for a total of 4 leafs, to get the stance I wanted.
Little work here and there on it this weekend. But rolled it out both days to clean the shop and look at it outside.
Always better to get them outside so you can stand further back and really see what's going on with the stance. Working up close all the time is almost like building them with blinders on your eyes! Until you can get back, you just don't know for sure what you have going.
Was able to get into the shop a bit this weekend. Got the taillights frenched in. Many stated how the factory lights are iconic, but there were some issues with the mounting pad areas.
Chipping away on different parts of the project. This weekend I was able to get a couple coats of paint on the dash.
Was able to get some time on the headlights this weekend. Started out with 54' mercury rings from speedway. Trimmed, pie cut and shaped them to fit. The headlights are currently on the backside and offset back 7/8".
No pictures to add, but I was able to finally get the brakes bled this weekend. took some pedal massaging, but we are good to go. Another milestone complete. Also some frustration, as this can of all-metal seems to have expired, as I cant get it to set. Will need to wire wheel it back off.
