  11. They usually dont let you get in any lane until all the other cars have been teched. Or they might have a lane specific to unregistered cars. I have seen it both ways. Best thing would be to talk to the people running registration as soon as yoi get there. Its a long day because your last. Bring food and something to drink.

Will this be televised (live feed, etc.) ? Any way to follow the event and results?
I tried google, and failed miserably.

  13. My understanding is that it will be on the Motortrend channel.

Hey Jim, are you doing the “ can’t open the hood” thing this time around? I recall your time pulling the blower out through the hood.

no once was enough for that!

I made it to my hotel in Kalamazoo.

I did get to do a little work on the car this morning. Last night, the brake pedal felt funny, like too much free play. I don't know if the piston was sticking, or what...but I could not see anything wrong with the pedal, or anything else. Picked up a new MC, installed it, it's fine now.

I get to spend all day tomorrow at the strip, see if they'll let me register. They've never had 400 cars (their limit) actually show up. so in past years, everyone who wanted to register, could do so if they showed up on registration day. I hope it works out that way this year, too. I'll see

  23. Fingers crossed that you are able to get in Jim. If not it’s hard to beat a cross country road trip in a blown big block Chevy 2

Not a lot will get done here next week, once the live feed starts.

Best of luck to those of you participating.

I made it to drag week with the coop. I saw that squirrel was here but I didn't get a chance to talk to him. Tony's here with his small block pickup.
I did some test and tune at Stanton last night and had a fuel delivery issue that kept the car from running well.
It was going lean about the time I hit third gear and was off 15 mph. We tried fiddling with a bunch of things and change the plugs and messed with the fuel pressure regulator, but nothing helped. I was actually contemplating whether or not I should throw in the towel, because I didn't want to hurt the motor by running it lean and if it can't make a clean pass there'd be no reason to continue.
This morning we found that the inlet screen on the fuel pump had gone into the rotors and chewed them up.
So I replaced the pump today. Hopefully that solves it.
I got the car through tech. One of the NHRA tech inspectors didn't believe that my cage was legal because it didn't have down bars protruding through the rear of the cab and down into the trunk. I showed him the sticker that certifies it is legal and I showed him the paperwork certifying it and explained to him it was designed to be legal and was fully approved. He wasn't buying it so he brought another inspector over and eventually they passed it. Thankfully!
I wasn't able to make a pass today, by the time I got into the staging lanes they were closed. So tomorrow morning, my first pass of the event will be a test. If the fuel pump swap doesn't solve it, I really don't know what I will try next.
Here's a picture of the car in the tech line. PXL_20210912_190417441~2.jpg
