Interesting grille treatment on this one. Don't think I've seen this before.

Looks like he was trying to match the Hemi equipped later ones that came with just 2 headlights.

Thanks guys. The headlight/grille treatment was part of the Mopar weight reduction program for the era. It's just asthetic on my convertible as she weighs 4200 lbs fully dressed.

    Hello,

We all knew about the big 426 Chrysler Corp products from the magazines and attendance at Lion’s Dragstrip. But for some reason, there were none on the streets of Bixby Knolls and other part of So Cal where we did our cruising. At the drags, they were big time, but for a street legal car, where were they?

The Yeakel Group was well known in the drag racing circles in and around So Cal. They had close ties to several teams and groups in the Bixby Knolls area for Hemi powered race cars. But, the main draw was to get some competition against the 427 Chevy sedans at the drag strips. So, the factories and dealers would do something to entice the locals with more horsepower of addition of extras for the victories at the dragstrip.

History is ongoing, even to today, one of the popular Cacklefest FED race cars is the nice sounds that come out of the reconstructed Yeakel Special. It is music to our ears…
