Great car and wonderful article. I also agree that it's the best thing I've read from you.

Actually I might go read it again to be honest. I think the personality of the car and story fit your writing style perfectly and that's why it works. <-Trying to not say something that sounds back handed, I really dug the piece.

Thanks for the story Joey. I've met David, and he's done some work on my truck. Not only is he a great fabricator, but a really nice guy too. I see him around town all the time, and his roadster always draws a crowd.

When I click on the link all I get is a blank page. There is the Jalopy Journal header at top
    but no text.

Works for me, try it again. Or you could just go to the front page and scroll down to find it as it was posted pretty recently.

What a fantastic story Joey ..... extremely well done and inspirational.

  9. Great story. To me it's more about a life style rather than a daily driver.
Anyway, very hard to achieve for the most of us, I suppose.

Your best article yet.BTW,it was missing some bicycle pictures ;)

  13. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Great article. Dave is a great fabricator and w/ his background of bicycle engineering he puts all his efforts into details. I'm proud to say that he is my cousin and getting the recognition he deserves.

Monday morning at work I catch up on what I missed here.
Joey, it has already been said, but this is your best piece so far. You gave us more than the stats on the car, you gave us the soul of the car and the man.
Keep writing and getting the big bucks (lol) from Ryan as he has a big bank account for his people.

It's just my opinion, but I think a car like this (especially this one, these days) might bring some 'bucks' at Barrett-Jackson. That is if they would let it on the property. Just a thought.

  19. Great car, Great story. It is what real Hot Rodding is all about. It sure as hell is not about polished this and that and being hauled in trailers to shows!!!!

  21. Well done piece, what a great car & respectful owner keeping it true to its past.

  22. Great to read about good people out there. Thanks

  23. Great article! I've loved that car since I first saw it in The Rodder's Journal. It looks way better without the hood/sides....I would love to hear it run!

I'm a little late to the party, having discovered this post just now because I was thinking about the car, which I first saw in Hop Up a long time ago. It was really neat to read about the personalities involved and to see some better images of the roadster. I do love those patch panels.

    Great work!

Wow, I'm glad this got bumped up. I missed it the first go round. VERY well written and how do you NOT love a REAL Hot Rodder and his story?

Five years later, this story is still fresh in my mind. Big things happening this Saturday at my favorite hot rod shop on earth.
