Got to thinking about my first “ hot rod” ... my 1949 Allstate box scooter, made by The Cushman company. Had a lot of fun with that machine. Lost all my old pics of when I was riding in in the fifties. But it’s still down in one of the barns on the ranch. Later had two Chusman Eagles.
Took these pics at a local bike meet. Thought they might be enjoyed. Maybe some folks here have pics of theirs.

I've got a 1959 step thru Cushman project that I am selling if anybody needs one. It is a rolling chassis with all sheetmetal. Needs engine and trans. Red paint with "patina" and original decal.

Never had one,but a friend of mine had a Cushman when we were in high school 1963-1966. The rest of us had old fords and chevys and pontiacs. He rode it all 3 yrs.,it was the only one in school and he was on it good weather or bad.

Here is mine, it's an Allstate 811-30 built by Cushman to be sold at Sears. It was sitting in the mud in a guy's back yard, and he gave it to me. The power has been updated with a 212cc Honda copy, and uses a torque converter like in my other bike. I built the front fender and did the seat myself. My Brother came up with the working kill button. It will make suitable transportation a B-Ville. IMG_0251.JPG IMG_0253.JPG IMG_0250.JPG

  8. Very timely subject. I just recently acquired my Uncle's scooters when he passed away. I now have his Mustang Pony, and a white Cushman Silver Eagle. Pictured are the Mustang, and a red Cushman that he traded away in a deal for a '56 Chevy wagon (I don't have a picture of the white one handy, but it is very similar). Also threw in a photo of him back in the day on his first Cushman.

That’s kool, I have lost all my old photos. That red scooter a “Silver Eagle” was the top of the line of scooters.Always wanted one of those Mustangs, a friend of mine had one when we were kids. I think they came in three horsepowers. I think there was the Pony, Stallion, and cant remember the other. Been too many years.
A while back I went to a show here in Muskogee and a guy had a real nice Eagle. I commented on it we talked about them.... then he said “ take it for a spin”! I could believe it, so I got on it, seemed smaller than I remembered. But I got to ride it a short distance and it brought back a flood of old memories.

I like yours John. I've had several and a 57 Mustang Pony. It had a slightly modified eng and was fun as well as fast.

Old post I know but I guess I didn't actually read it the first time because if I had of I would have checked out the kill switch.
Pretty damn cool/funny. Love the bike.

Question! Was it Cushman that made the "suitcase" scooter????...

I think it was the Centaur company that made them.

Sorry for delayed response, don't visit as often as I should.
Just sold that '55 Allstate and it did not have a front brake, just the rear drum as stock. Sorry I can't help.
