I sent the cam out of my 430 Lincoln engine to Oregon cam grinding. It had two very worn lobes they built up the worn lobes and reground it to 1969 428 Cobra jet specs(hydraulic). I broke it in with Lucas breaking oil. It is an excellent grind for the street, has a great sound and it made the 430 into a very responsive engine. Works really nice with the mustang t5. I highly recommend them for all types of cam service.
Several months ago I sent them a '63 Avanti R2 cam for regrind. Motor is together and running. Great company to do business with.
Kenny is a friend of mine and he is a real Hot Rodder/ Racer and all around good guy that prides himself on quality and customer service.
Those of us who live near Oregon Cam Grinding are pretty happy to have a great company so close to deal with!
Thanks. It should be a good addition to the cam/lifter failure discussions on here. Firsthand knowledge from a pro goes a long ways.
I've heard of Oregon Cam Grinders over the years but I guess what always confused me was that it is in WA. We have always used Delta Cam grinders in Tacoma. Not the same place is it? Dave
I'd say. A stock 1958 430 was rated at 500 ft-lbs. A well built, cammed up one is capable of quite a bit more. There is a reason the 430 got the nickname "Bull Dozer". That T5 is nothing but a hand grenade with the pin pulled. I have been down this road. That trans will work great until the first time you're feeling a bit sassy after an argument with the wife, and boom! Drop clutch, get on it a bit much, and all of the sudden 1st gear is missing a few teeth....
