Hello fellow hotrodders ! I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of 32 sedan I am purchasing from another one of our members, and I want to change the wheels/tires on it. I have a set of straight spoke torque thrusts in 15x5 and 15x7 that I am thinking of using, and cant decide on a tire size. I want to run radials, and something I can obtain locally. I really like the look of taller skinnier tires ( yes, I realize that doesn't really go with 15" and radial..) But I really think a un-chopped sedan highboy needs tall-ish tires. I have 6.70-15 bias-look radials on the front of my roadster, and I like that size, but right now Coker tires are back-ordered and those are expensive.

Anyone have any insight, or pictures of un-chopped 32 highboy sedans with known tire sizes for comparison ?

    Much appreciated !

I’m running Coker/Firestone 8.20-15 in the rear & 5.00-15 fronts. It drives & handles well. I plan on upgrading to 16’s when I wear these out. 28755D61-A7C0-49C2-BE30-A023B265E9EF.jpeg

On my last 2 32 sedan highboys and the one I am currently building I use 4.5X15 front wheels with 145/15 XZX Michelin radials and on the rear 10X15 wheels with 285/70 BFG radials. I've also used this combination on several highboy roadsters.

I should have the car in about a week, I will definitely post some pictures ! I would love to use the wheels I already have, but who knows......

I really like the look of a tallish front tire, but it's hard to find one that doesn't get too wide.

Thanks for all the help guys, I ordered a pair of 16x7 Coker V40's, and will use the 15x5 TTo's I already have. Ive got a pair of 6.70-15 bias-look radials coming for the front, and will run 235/85/16's in the back.

Here's a "before" picture, hopefully I get my new toys soon !

Will 235/85 16 work on 8 in rims?

  15. Yep, but will balloon out a bit.

What a difference !! I went with 15x5 and 6.70-15 in the front and a 16x7 with a 235/85/16 in the back. I like a tallish front tire on sedan highboys. I really like how it turned out, thanks again for all the info guys !!!

They are a Coker bias-look radial, I bought them through Summit, because they had them in stock and Coker didn't !

Turned out great - such an improvement! Wheels, tires and stance really do make the car. You have them all!!
