Work is continuing on the '33, now focusing on wiring the car. With the help of Ashley, we fished some wiring down the rails for the headlight taillights, and fuel system. During that time, the chrome work came back, so I've been slowly getting those pieces put back on the car.

With the Auburn panel and switches, the dash has a lot of wiring in it (about 28 circuits in total). I prewired the entire dash, and used three compact deutsche connectors to make the near future install go easy.

I checked out everything before calling it good, including lighting up the gauges!

The last piece of glass left to install was the windshield, which was awaiting the windshield frame from the chromer. With it now home, a couple friends helped me get the glass installed in the frame and hung on the car. Fortunately everything fit just as well finished as it did in mockup.

Ashley and I got the hood pieces built up the other day, and began the difficult process of fitting everything together. I'm pretty happy with what we achieved, so I locked down the radiator/grille/side aprons. I'll pull the hood this week so I can continue to wire the engine bay with a little more access.

Cory, it's almost a shame to put fenders on, but it will even be more Dynamite with them !!

  15. Nothing on this car sticks out or is otherwise inconsistent with the build. Even the glass is perfectly integrated.

I think he drives trains. You know, an engineer. He's sure keeping this build on track.

I'm going to drive it just for a bit before the fenders go on - I want to make sure nothing needs to come back apart!

My day job is an automotive engineer. Building a hot rod and build new cars are remarkably the same thing.....just different scales!

Remarkable build. On your air cleaner did you have to do much finish work on the 3D print?

With most 3D print processes, you’re going to see the edges of the layers on curved surfaces. I blocked the pieces in 80 grit, then shot a couple coats of polyester primer on it. Once that was blocked to 320, it was ready to seal and paint.

I think a little Beatnik jargon from 1960 is appropriate here, "Like Wowzville" !

Over the past week, I got the car wired. I did a lot of preplanning, so the actual job was pretty easy. I got the dash installed (after installing the header panel and windshield garnish plates), followed by the steering column and wheel.

I also got the engine wired too, along with wrapping up the plug wires. The OT EFI is pretty inconspicuous, and I'm very pleased with it!
