Could someone tell me what a core 1937 Hudson steering box is worth?
    Thanks

I bought one from a Hudson collector several years ago for 500.00 and he didn't know what to ask. Was a bargain as it came from a low mileage car. I foolishly sold it. Later when I needed one for my 32 Ford PU I bought one all rebuilt and modified for the deuce for around 1400.00. It was worth it, the truck drives great.

They look pretty similar to mine which are supposed to be 37 hudson steering boxes. Draggged out of some very prickly blackberry bushes.
What internals are used to rebuild these?

I'm also looking for one, it's made by Gemmer, model 301, used in many cars in the '30's.
The one year only '37 Hudson is almost a direct bolt in for a Deuce. The others, including Nash, Ford, Dodge, and Plymouth require some modification. Most manufacturers did not build their own boxes, but bought them from outside suppliers, just as today.

You can call Doug Wildrick at 317-398-4163 to see what he is selling them for. They do yay much Hudson repairs and resto work, and very straight up folks to deal with.

What rebuild kits are available for the Hudson steering box?

You might look at 47-59 Chevy pick up boxes. Recirculating ball and readily available complete rebuild kits. Look very similar to the Hudson. Very reasonable prices.

I don't have any tech to share. I found one and just played around with it. It looked just like a F100 box. They used them clear up thru 59 in the trucks with side steer and aferwards with different housings with cross steer. They are bacially the same as what came in most GM cars. GM must have been happy with them. They are recirculating ball design like a Vega.
It is a far better box than the F100 box.
It should be as easy to steer as a Vega in a light car.
It might work with a wedge like the F100 or cut the flange off and make a new flange. I have done this with an F100 box,
I suggested this as they are cheap and available and an better than what is being used.
The pics are of a 55-57 box

Looks like a zerk fitting on top of the box... I take it that they use grease instead of gear oil in those?

I think that is a home made addition. I never saw another with a grease zerk.
