  5. '54 Ford dash removed and sandblasted then filled in the heat controls to even out the heat & air vents.

I spent several hours with a pecking hammer making the couture's on each side flat for the placement of vents.

Then went to work with a hole saw and Dremel tool.

Next I wanted to eliminate the idiot lights and that necessitated the engine turned panel to be replaced and metal from the dash cut to insert gauges, I found a piece of engine turned aluminum at Speedway motors and I cut it to lay inside the original panel.

What you see here is a poster board template, I transferred it to the aluminum insert.

Next I disassembled the speedometer housing, cleaned and repainted it.

Then replaced the brittle & broken turn signal lens with green plastic from a lunch meat container top.

I use a Jif peanut butter red lid and used a leather crafting hole punch to use as a high beam indicator.

This shows everything reassembled, I eliminated the original clock and moved the radio to clean up the insert, I also relocated the headlight switch & windshield wiper swatch to eather side if the steering column, that is where the air vents were originally located, they were relocated under the dash, never use them. Even the clock works... when you remember to wind it. 20210529_104106.jpg

Some old Pontiacs.. The Teal one was a 64 Grand Prix with a 421 Tri Power, 8 lug wheels, am/fm Reverb. What was truly rare on this car was the glass script in the dash board that read Grand Prix had a real long light bulb built in it. This was all factory. Till this day I have never seen another one.. Back when I owned this car I thought it was just another option on the heavily optioned Pontiac..

  19. I just painted mine up, I had it out anyways. Hung some summit gauges under it, found some new paper gauge faces on eBay.

This is the dash from my 47 Ford coupe. 42 Ford clock and speedo, I took a second speaker cover flipped it around and put it over the radio opening, and the steering wheel is from a 68 Thunderbird.

Modern compared to the previous posts but it is a modified dash. (Avatar)

  27. Oh, I forgot this one I built for my friend's '42 Willys pickup. Born of necessity, we had to install a firewall bump to fit the SBC and install Old Air A/C. And these tiny vehicles start with zero room to begin with!
