Found it when I was 11 years old in 1962, old channeled Hot Rod with the doors welded on. Sold it, and got it back 25 years later missing one lower stantion, nothing was ever done to it. As it sits today there are parts from twelve different Roadster bodies, plus small odds & ends like door latches & handles. Rear quarters, and the top panel are the only pieces from the original find, everything else is an upgraded item. It may be one of the longest builds time wise. Bob

It was all from the same car. It was cut into small enough pieces to feed through the English wheel, and then welded back together.

  6. So cool to see Jim fix the seemingly unfixable.

I'm fortunate, all 3 cars have original bodies and bolt on panels except the Ford; it has a glass hood, bar and front fenders. My local 48 GMH I had years ago was the same, original body and bolt on panels.

The willys was almost all made frim the original car. With the exception of pieces that were so mangled i made new ones. This car was wrecked very badly, ran over by a dozer and buried before i got it. 012CF5C3-F9A2-425F-BB3E-D3E320FA8FC5.jpeg

I had been collecting 56 ford trucks for years, I would buy one swap parts out that were better than ones I had on my truck. This went on for about 10 years. When it can time to finish the truck I realized none of the tuck had ever been off the original truck. Getting all the gaps correct and panel fitment was hard but it was worth it in the end.

The old Chevy was pretty complete (and disassembled) although I found a better passenger door and various grilles to finish it off. The Studebaker however, was a different task, I bought three more cars (one for the trunk lid) before I got it "done". I've sold some parts...but...this is a money losing game I've found out:( IMG_0598.JPG IMG_1665.JPG IMG_1673.JPG IMG_3479.JPEG

My 48 already had parts from about six trucks in it and this go around will have more like ten donors. My body parts supply clutter will drop drastically in the next few weeks though.

  15. I was lucky too. I first bought my avatar 32 back in 1974 and all it needed was one small patch behind the driver door and a small rust spot on the drivers door. After I sold it and bought it back, it appears to have not suffered any more deterioration , so....just 1 body (2)1932 build 1976.JPG and fiberglass fenders since the previous owner changed the original steel fenders.

Not to hard to rack up a lot of donor cars if you’re building a full fender car from just a body shell. Love the patchwork stories
