Projects New family hauler- 1955 Ford Fairlane station wagon

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Aug 27, 2021.

  1. Beautiful wagon. What's the third character of the serial number? That indicates the assembly plant. An A would indicate Atlanta plant and tell you that my father leaded the seams on it.

  3. Chris, you’re killing me! Where on earth do you keep finding these righteous old Ford’s? That wagon is fantastic! Drive the wheels off of that sweetheart.

  4. Awesome looking wagon! I hope my daughter is as enthusiastic about my wagon when I finally get her on the road.

Congratulations @Chris on this great acquisition !

" Money has no value, unless its spent " And you have spent your money very well indeed!

It really made me smile to see the cool window stickers, because I used to live in Yosemite National park for a couple of years, and I have been to everyone of those places, that are the stickers on the windows !
I have always been a " MOPAR " guy and a " IHC " guy, put the quality of that particular Ford Country Sedan wagon, that is now yours, has made me really think about one of these wagons in my future !
Thanks for posting and sharing !

That is one sweet little wagon. We had a 55 four door sedan for a while when we lived in Texas that we had a lot of fun with.

  8. Nice wagon but it looks like the springs are weak with all the kids in it......

Love it! Some of my favorite memories growing up were of family vacations in a Country Sedan station wagon.

Fantastic addition for the family Chris! That secret old Ford honey hole of yours in Spokane keeps on giving.
Gonna add seat belts for the fam?

That wagon is awesome. Life is so much cooler carting the family round in an old wag. Bonus points for having a Y Block too.

    Keep up the good work

Wow, gorgeous wagon! Amazing how much a change of wheels can change the appearance of a car. I mean, the wheels that came on it weren't bad, but the new ones really look great. You sure know how to make a car look good.

  15. Nice wagon! 4 doors work well on a wagon...make them more versatile and easier for the little woman to use as a daily. But.... where's the oversized dog that goes everywhere and was the excuse to buy this rig??

Though I prefer the '56s that is a great family wagon! Especially love the tourist decals, that was a thing when I was a kid though my Dad didn't want any on his car.

Get some seat belts as you will be hauling irreplaceable cargo and don't forget to swap to Aerostar front coils...

Wow. You win. I LOVE the little red showing between the hubcap and the whitewall. Perfect.

That's an unreal score at that price point. Great family hauler that you shouldn't be afraid to drive.

I recently chased my buddy's 55 Crown Vic on a long road trip, and his Y block with a 500cfm Edelbrock and an AOD got over 20 mpg at left lane highway speed. I also see a modern brake booster and Saginaw PS pump on there. That is the kind of stuff that isn't necessarily sexy like nice paint, interior, etc., but makes all the difference in how it drives.

Not being picky but I think the wheel covers are Montclair’s. Talked a guy at the Donut Derelicts this morning with his 55 and he said the Monterey’s didn’t have the bars…what you have is perfect.

With 2 young children on board I would use the Cokers too. Easy to hide under a fat fender.
