Hello,

Two of my favorite vehicles, a 1951 Oldsmobile two door sedan and Bobby Langley’s early “Scorpion” FED. The 1951 Oldsmobile was my brother’s first custom sedan at age 15. Then over time, it went from stock Yellow with flipper hubcaps and a lowered rake stance, to Lime Green with Moon Discs prior to selling the Oldsmobile to a good friend.
1956-57
Bobby Langley had his 2nd generation FED at the 1959 Riverside Raceway Drag Race and we both thought it was one of the best-looking race cars in attendance.

So, when I was looking at Kustomrama for some inspiration, out pops this combination of both cool vehicles. Bill Collins from Texas used a flamed 51 black Oldsmobile sedan as a push/tow car for Bobby Langley’s early FED race car. Then some wild pipes showed up on the same Oldsmobile, later.

“A photo of Bill's Oldsmobile taken in 1958. Notice the radical exhaust he now has installed on the car. Karl believes the style at the time on some dragsters and other drag cars with exposed engines was to run the exhaust with longer tubes pointed towards the sky, and he believes that might have been the inspiration for Bill's configuration. I saw a black and white image of this car and decided to pant it in color. producing art of 60's and 70's dirt cars is my interest. Size is 18" x 24" and I used oil enamel lettering paints.
So much beautiful stuff to look at on this site.
