I picked up this many years ago at the Long Beach Swap Meet and never could figure out if it was a one off or if it is a one that someone can recognize.

It is not CAE that is for sure grill is the wrong way.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your input!

Don't know who made it but that looks like a layup mold to me.
Is that what you are asking?

It looks more like a mold for a track nose.

Without a size reference, I can't tell if the nose is for a midget or a sprint car.

From the overall look and shape, I would say it was from a Don Edmunds car.

Yes, I assumed everyone would translate the obviousness of this being a fiberglass mold which is why I did not mention it on the original post. It measures 20.5" Wide and 23" from nose to hoodline. Grill opening is 16"x11", 15" inches to the axle notch on bottom, the lower notched section is overall 12". I think it's based on the Niekamp roadster track nose but was looking for some opinions.

Track noses are very generic. They have to be made to suit the specific application. Sprint car would be narrower than one for roadster etc. Many different styles and grill openings. I'm working on one today but just ran out of argon and we're in lockdown here. Hard to get the right shape to suit my car, let alone just fabricating one.

  8. I have to say this @VANDENPLAS . Alas, it is not from a Dodge.

That should be put back into service making more parts!

  10. This is an oxymoron. They can't be generic and application specific. ;)

Agree, looks like the Speedway nose. The Niekamp nose looks wider, taller and shorter in length.

Well I checked the measurement on the grill opening and it off a few inches from the grill shell opening on the Speedway track nose. This one will require a custom grill to get it to work. Time to make it my own. Thanks for your insight and help everyone!
