Yeah that was on TV the other night. Searched the HAMB, only mentioned years ago surprisingly. Also some great cars in the pit scenes, including the Mantaray.

 

Yep! I also caught the tail end of that movie a couple of nights ago.... The last half hour was the best part of the movie....

Yep they ran the Beach movies here starting last Sunday which showed them all that day and and during the week - never miss em if I can.

 

the movie has just been played here this Sunday arvo

 

and it was on down hear today.

Blasting down the track is pretty notable in this incredible footage mixed with a bit of Hollywood here and there...a real feel for where the Sport was moving... FASTER

 

Did you catch the driver from Bullitt in the Beach movie with Linda Evans ? He looked the same.....with Paul Lynne as the manager of her......sorry if I'm getting off....topic.....

 

Did they have a dragster with rearward facing camera in front of the other dragster at speed? Doesn’t seem easy!

 

Awesome that they captured some iconic cars for the movie! And I think that's Don Rickles flagging them off.

 

Yeah, its Rickles AKA -"Big Drag" .. The movie is typical for the times Annette looked great,
The sound quality for the drag scenes is pretty good , wish this video had that

 

I don't think Bill Hickman was in Beach Blanket Bingo, that's the only Beach movie Evans was in.
Hickman, a great stunt driver as we all know, was also good friends and mentor with James Dean and was driving the chase car and trailer when Dean was killed. I believe he was first on the scene after the crash.

Earl Wilson ? Looked it up and he did play a newspaper or magazine columnist - had those black rim glasses I guess ever one was wearing - thanks for your info as well. Have that post card of the Ranch wagon and trailer when Dean was gassing up the Porsche on my shop wall.

 

Man thanks for posting that clip. Took me back to Mission Raceways when I was in grade 6-7 in the late sixties! Those were great times and I miss them a lot...

And yeah, a flagman and a Christmas tree? I guess they were unclear on the concept!

 

Never heard of Wilson so I had to look him up, he was a pretty famous writer back in the day and his handful of film credits as an actor are as himself.

Unless trivia I saw, the Beatles dedicated their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show to Wilson. I'm guessing because of good press?

 

Forget Viagra. I'm totally turned on...
