I have a pretty rare 4×2 Intake with 4 Holly 94s. It is 2 piece and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it.

  2. Hey @Moriarity can you move this to the main board? You probably know what it is anyway lol

looks to me like a mid eighties crossfire injection factory manifold with a home made top on it

Yep! Also has the Winters Foundry snowflake cast on it....

  6. Looks better than the OE cross ram stuff it came with.
    Probably a little more dependable

I think it would be better with Rochester 4GC’s

That's a nice extra visual touch but the Winters "snowflake" is part/parcel for identifying most of the 60's hi-performance aluminum SBC and BBC intake manifolds as OEM along with corresponding casting numbers per application.

I think it’s a great idea. Had me fooled for something vintage. Four twos is pretty cool.

I remember it being referred to as "cease fire" injection!

Hmm. Hard to figure out what's going on there.

I had this idea years ago, but after examining the actual manifold gave up on it. The port outlets into the cylinder head are about 1/2 the size of a stock intake port.
I just can't remember if it was the floor or the roof of the port that was filled.....but it's filled nearly the full length of the port in the manifold
Take a lot of work with a long shank carbide burr to get the port size up to making anything over about 270 hp.
I was going to use two Holley 500cfm 2-barrels, turned sideways, gave up on the idea because the port work involved and you'd still not know if mixture distribution was a mess. Didn't mesh with a 450 hp build plan, thats for sure.

Now that we (Mark) have id’d the origin, how does it work? Are there any mods under the adapter plate? Inquiring minds want to know! Looks killer by the way.

Clears an HEI, and there's an EGR blockoff plate...the perfect old time intake!

Might make a good intake for a front mount Procharger engine with two "blow-through" Holley carbs, would at least be a fun challenge to see how well it performs.
Just don't post any photos of it here!

It's the floor that's filled in the GM manifold.
Then these guys came up with this manifold as an update/better designed version. Much better in many ways. Per forums that I read, it seems to be worth 45 to 50 hp over the stock manifold, even using the same silly injectors.

  22. I didn’t think those cease fire manifolds where good for anything except scrap.

    very cool idea.
@Mike VV any more pics or info on yours?
You used plexi for the top cover ?

Ya' gotta love eBay , in the " compatibility chart" it shows that part is compatible with 4 -6 & 8 cyl engines  ,wonder how that works out :p

you are right, the ports are real small. i have one that came off a vette and is the same on the ports. it is the bottom that has been filled in and no material to remove to open it up either.

This is the one I built. Sold it at a swap meet and found it on this.

  27. Seems to me if you're using one of these to emulate a early intake like a Man-a-fre, you could go whole hog and cut away most of what's inside this intake. Those early manifolds were all open plenum, doing this to the EFI intake would make porting one much easier.

Completely off topic but picture this car on a mountain road in a turn at speed and that goofy steering chain lashup comes apart and wraps around that throttle cable!!!
