Really like it except..........the front grille area.
Looks like you were going good and then.........'just slung a grille and hood on it!'
Still wayyyy better than anything I have ever done.
The engine make my pants get tight!!

Wow, the hood and nose are my favorite part of this whole car. I guess it just goes to show that not everyone thinks the same , and we all have our own taste.

  9. Just read the whole thread again, just impressive. If you are going to paint it, put my check mark in the blue column with a bit of chrome. Still waiting to see what you come up with for lights… nice, nice nice.

Ot is definitely going corsair blue. A little chrome here and there, and lots of light grey on the chassis. Headlights are still up in the air.

Put matching wheels on it. Im hoping for smooth rims when its done, but slots all the way around are better than what it had. C00D3823-2481-4B6F-8E27-EC7266CB1CB4.jpeg

And a little more quilting. This is getting a little old. I will be ready to switch to chassis by the time this patchwork is done. 6E1C3CBB-3F5B-40BC-A02D-29CC76D4BBFD.jpeg 66C9AF7B-1C3D-49E7-9F48-9D5F85FB0171.jpeg

I've referred to it as "Tetris" in the past, but I do like "quilting", I might have to adopt that term.

To me,Tetris is the art of cutting and tacking the pieces together, while quilting is the never ending act of sewing all of the chunks together with a welder. Then come the fun of “decorating the cake.” Yhis consists of icing the whole car with a skim of bondo to get rid of weld lines. All of this is then followed by hours and hours of “ fun with primer”! It all sounds better if you make a game out of it.

Jim, I wish I could have fun with this and I'm happy for you that you can. About 30 years ago I took a couple of years of evening adult education bodywork classes. What I learned is that I hate bodywork and will gladly pay someone who is good at it to do mine for me. I'll still be following this thread every day 'til the car is finished.

    Hey, Jim.
    Crazy, man! LOL
    Looks real good.
I'm aware of the wavy Mopar front axles. But I don't know exactly what years they're from. Can you bring me up to speed? Thank you.

I am convinced that a naked car looks as good or better than most things, naked. Lots of grinding and quilting, but its just about ready to disassemble and make it run. First i am going to clean up the roof slides, and fit the decklid and hood better. FF29EFE3-070C-45B3-93D0-A3DAE90F3CFE.jpeg

I replaced the clunky, bulky slide mechanism with a cleaner, home built set up. Upon finishing the slide, I made a few measurements to set the roof on straight. Everything was going great until i measured the trunk area and realized that it was 1 inch to the right of center. After a few minutes of trying to justify leaving it, i cut the back out of the car and rebuilt it all!
