I’ve been trying to buy a 49-50 Chevy convertible in unrestored condition for 20 years. I’ve been chasing this particular car for 8 years. It’s a 2 owner car from my state. The previous owner drove it through high school and had tremendous sentimental attachment. I would stop and try to inquire about it every 6 months. This week, he finally sold it to me. Low miles rebuild 235 installed years ago will stay in it. I’m over the moon. Now I can get rid of the rust buckets I’ve acquired to try to build the roached out 49 vert I have.

Congrats! I can see why you wanted it. It looks like it will be a great car with a little love invested into it.

This is the car I have that I was going to build. Thank goodness he sold me my new one. Saved me from years of work. I may still keep it and build it one day but I’ll be cruising in the new one this year.

  7. Appears you are WAY ahead of where you were. I actually know where someone has a real solid 50 convertible project for sale as well if anyone else is looking.

Perseverance pays off. Hate to admit it but I have never had such a interest in any one car. Enjoy your new ride.

I have a 54 corvette factory split exhaust manifold for the 235 along with an original fenton intake with a couple of zenith carbs and an edmonds valve cover. Spun the engine over yesterday and bent 4 pushrods. 4 exhaust valves were stuck so I got them free today. one is still a bit tight. New fuel tank going in along with disk brakes up front when they come in. I'll try to keep some pics updating it if anyone is interested.

Sweet. Some slick paint, new top and interior. Then lower a little with some nice wheels. Perfect.

Way ahead of your other car. Good luck

Congrats! Looks like the old one needed a TON of rust repair. Looks like you have a nice task force in the garage too!

Here are some parts I’ve stashed away over the years that should find a nice home on the old girl. The intake needs some repair and has the big 235 carb spacing. I’d like to find an intake that will also still bolt to my corvette manifold like the stock intake AND have the small 216/ Gmc 228 carb spacing. I want to run these small base zenith carbs. They are great carbs and have adjustable main jets.
