Dave Strickler cut up the Vette after he was done running that ill-handling beast....he did not want anyone to get hurt in it.

Amazing shot…

 

Tim Woods ran a very successful construction company and rarely traveled with the car. Tim was seen on occasion when the car ran at US 30 Drag Strip, most likely he may have been visiting his son Leonard who attended Notre Dame University in Indiana. Len was actually the Stone lettered on the door, maybe to shield dad’s business from liability. Fred Stone was another Black gentleman, no idea what he did for a living.
By chance I met Len at the 1999 CHRR when he came up into the stands to watch T/F qualifying. Tall and lanky when we used to see him at US 30 he had put on some weight and when he sat next to me I asked him if he was Leonard Woods. He replied Yes, how did you know? I told him he walked just like his father and the added weight also helped a bit. He and his friend had a good laugh at that.
Len took his own life when his Ford dealership hit hard times.

 

Those pics are my favorite when the early fuelers were all crossed up, boiling the hides... AHHH Good Times
